Evolution or Creation: The Final Argument by Rashad Khalifa – Transcript

(This transcript is not true verbatim, I have removed repetitive sentences, and I have reconstructed certain sentences that end abruptly where Rashad rephrases himself before finishing the previous sentence, this is common in speech but not text. – Ahmad Wehbe).

Video Intro:

  • Evolution or Creation
  • The Final Argument
  • Your host – Rashad Khalifa, PhD

  • Dr. Khalifa has a PhD in Plant Biochemistry from University of California, Riverside [1964].
  • He has published 5 books and 23 scientific papers in Science, Analytical Biochemistry, and other outstanding journals.
  • Currently (As of recording this video), he is on the roster of science advisors for the United Nations Industrial development Organization.

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Every one of you is aware of the spirited debate, that has been raging for decades, between evolutionists and creationists. This hot debate began in the mid-nineteenth century; about hundred and twenty-five (125) years ago, when Charles Darwin developed his theory of gradual evolution.
  • Basically, what Charles Darwin said was that life began spontaneously from inanimate inorganic matter. This beginning of life was supposedly in water, and a single simple cell first formed. Then this cell split and multiplied, and evolved into new forms of life. With the passage of millions upon millions of years, fish came into existence in this water. And with additional of millions upon millions of years, some of the fish started to walk on land, and started to develop lungs instead of gills. Eventually, again, additional millions and millions of years was required for some of these land creatures to develop wings and the ability to fly. Another branch of these land animals continued to develop and evolve all the way to human beings.
  • Of course, as scientists, we took this theory of Charles Darwin and we scrutinized it, we put it to the test, like any other theory. Darwin used terms like; natural-selection, mutations, survival of the fittest, to explain his theory. Now during the last one hundred (100) years of scientific revolution, we learned quite a few things. Many of the things that you and I learned as youngsters, have been found to be wrong, or at best; trivialized.
  • So we took this theory of evolution and we studied it carefully. We started to look for the evidence, we treated it as any other theory, trying to prove it and turn it into a law. So, in the process of studying the theory and collecting evidence; fossils, skeletal remnants and so on. And the other scientists combined to teach us that parts of the original theory of Darwin were unworkable or scientifically wrong, just down right wrong. And this lead to the modification of Darwin’s theory.
  • As scientists we had to modify the original theory of evolution as written by Charles Darwin, in order to pick the new established facts. Let me give you a couple of examples. Gradual evolution proved to be wrong, our fossil record does not support gradual evolution. You heard about the missing link, every one of you knows about the missing link. And I am here to tell you there is no just a missing link, there are thousands of missing links. And to solve this problem, the scientists came up with a new theory called; punctuated equilibrium. Stephen Gould of Harvard and Niles Eldredge came up with this idea, punctuated equilibrium to solve the problem of the missing links. What they said was that evolution happened in giant leaps not gradually. So this was the first major modification of the original theory of evolution.
  • Another idea for example that we had to abandon was Lamarck’s concept of inherited – let me give you the correct expression here; the transmission of acquired characteristics. This concept of Lamarck had to be abandoned because it proved to be unworkable. And to give you an example from everyday life, Lamarck for example said that the giraffe has a long neck because most animals had to reach for high leaves, and they lived in an area where they needed the long neck. Well this was proven unworkable, and scientifically untenable (cannot be defended), and it was eventually abandoned. So we kept adjusting and modifying the theory of evolution.
  • What I wish to share with you today, is a scientific examination of both evolution and creation. I will present to you physical evidence, irrefutable, incontrovertible evidence that will help you decide exactly what took place – evolution and or creation. The title of this program is evolution or creation, the final argument. And hopefully, by the end of this program, you will see enough evidence to help you make a final decision about evolution and creation. We will find out exactly what components of Darwin’s theory are correct, and which components are wrong. And I must point out at this time, that Darwin was a indeed a genius when he suggested natural selection, survival of the fittest and mutations to explain his theory. Let me give you an example. The navel orange, this beautiful fruit is a new creature, that’s right. Your great-grandfather never saw or tasted a navel orange. And this happened through mutation, all of a sudden this tree came out with this beautiful fruit; seedless and delicious. And of course now it is spread all over the world. We take it for granted. But this is a good example of evolution. However, I must point out that the navel orange evolved from oranges, in other words we will not see an apple evolve from oranges, or a fig. The navel orange is still an orange. And this is an important point.

  • The evolution or creation issue is before the supreme court this year, in 1987, so this program is quite timely, because right now we have a powerful scientific and objective tool. That can tell us exactly which events in the world are probable, and which events are not probable. This powerful objective and scientific tool is mathematics.
  • Mathematics is the most scientific of all sciences. It is a pure science. And through mathematics we can tell if a bridge or a building is going to collapse or not, under any given circumstances. So we can use this powerful tool to examine both evolution and creation. This is exactly what we are going to do together, and hopefully by the end of this program we; you and I, will reach a final decision. So the name; the final argument, is quite appropriate.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:08:59).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:09:16).

  • Let me first simply the mathematical laws, the laws or probability that we will be using today to examine both evolution and creation. Let us say we have five cubes, each cube is labelled with only one number, either one, or two, or three, or four, or five (1,2,3,4,5). If we mix these five (5) cubes in a mixer, and have them fall down in some kind of a device so that they would be lined up in one line, or toss them up in the air and have them fall in such a way so they would be lined up.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:09:53).

  • What are the possible combinations of these five (5) cubes, how many permutations are we going to have? Well, the laws of mathematics are very simple, they tell you that you will get a hundred and twenty (120) combinations, and you obtain this by multiplying one by two by thee by four by five, (1x2x3x4x5), the product is hundred and twenty (120), so you will get hundred and twenty (120) combinations, or permutations. In other words, every combination – if they fall down lined up; one two three four five (1 2 3 4 5), in this particular combination, this combination has a chance out of hundred and twenty (120) chances. Let me show you on the board.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:10:47).

  • Here we are with the five cubes, each one labelled with only one number. You toss them up in the air and have them fall down so they appear lined up in this particular combination. What are the possible combinations, how many? Here we see the formula, the number of possible combinations or permutations is 1x2x3x4x5, or hundred and twenty (120) combinations.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:11:10).

  • The probability for any specific combination is obtained by dividing one (1) over hundred a twenty (120), because each combination has a chance out of hundred and twenty (120) chances. And one over a hundred and twenty (120) equal; zero point zero zero eight six (0.0086).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:11:23).

  • This probability diminishes fast as we increase the number of cubes. For example, if we increase the number of cubes by one, so you have six cubes instead of five (5), the number of possible combinations jumps from hundred and twenty (120) to seven hundred and twenty (720). One times two times three times four times five times six (1x2x3x4x5x6). And the probability for any specific combination goes down from one out of hundred and twenty (120) to one out of seven hundred and twenty (720), or 0.0014. So you can see how fast it diminishes. Okay, when will the probability diminish all the way to zero? well mathematicians who are exceedingly precise conservative, and careful scientist – decided that if you have eighty-four (84) cubes, then the probability is zero; forgetting any specific combinations. What does that mean? let me get to the board and show you this. I have the number here for eighty-four (84) cubes. The probability – look at this, is zero point zero zero zero zero zero zero zero all the way, fifty zeros and then two one eight (0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000208).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:12:44).

  • So, you can see here that the probability for all practical purposes is zero (0). And this by the way is extending the benefit of the doubt. What does this mean in practical terms. This means you can take these 84 cubes, toss them up in the air and have them fall in such a way that they line up, and if you want a specific combination of one two three four five six seven eight all the way up to eighty-four, if you want this specific combination, you can toss up these cubes and have them fall down lined up forever, and you will never see this combination, this is what probability zero means, you can appreciate that. Now many of you are familiar with the lottery, we know what our chances are of winning the lottery, and here in the lottery we are talking about five or six numbers. So you can really appreciate the improbability of having any four cubes lines up in a specific combination.

  • To make a long story short, the genetic material of the human being, the gene that decides what kind of creature we have. This genetic material contains – listen to this 30 billion nucleotides arranged in specific sequences and specific quantities. Now what are the probabilities of arranging these billions of nucleotides in specific sequence of course you know the answer from the mathematical laws, the probability is zero many times over. We are talking here about not eighty-four (84) numbers, or eighty-four hundred (8400) numbers, or eighty-four thousand (84000) numbers, or eighty-four million (84000000) numbers We are talking about thirty billion (30000000000) nucleotides.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:14:03).

  • You know, as scientists, we have been talking about similarities between the human being and the ape, as far as genetic material is concerned. And you know something, if you have ninety percent (90%) similarity, we are still talking about three hundred million (300000000) nucleotides that must be arranged in a specific sequence, as specific quantities to change the ape into a human being. Even if we have ninety-nine percent (99%) similarity, we are still talking about thirty million (30000000) nucleotides that must be haphazardly arranged in specific sequence in order to change the ape to a human being. And you know that the portability for this is zero, we have now these mathematical laws that can tell us exactly which event is probable, and which event is not probable. And we know that the probability, that thirty million nucleotides, in the case of 99 percent similarity between the human and the ape, we know this probability is zero, we are not talking about 84 numbers, we are talking about thirty billion nucleotides. Another thing, at the other end of the evolutional spectrum, we are talking about the so called simple cell. Remember when I stated Charles Darwin’s theory, Darwin said that; first a simple single cell was formed, well, the cell that Darwin is talking about is not simple at all. It’s a very complex chemical factory, it is in fact the most complex chemical factory we know of. It has hundreds of actions, and the actions go on in the cell. And it has the DNA material that are very complex, and just to quote something, that will make you smile at least. About 50 years ago, Wells (H. G. Wells), Huxley (Julian Huxley) and Wells (G. P. Wells), wrote in their text; The Science of Life – and I’m quoting now; “nothing can be seen inside the nucleus of the cell except the clear fluids”, end of quote.

(Source: The Science of Life, page 30).

  • Now, these both scientists knew nothing about DNA. In the last fifty years, there was so much advanced in science that we realize now how many actions and reactions are going on within the nucleus. We know about the DNA; the helical structure (the shape of DNA is not always helical). And we know the arrangement and the specificity of sequences of nucleotides. And we know now that haphazard creation of a simple cell – as Darwin called it – is not possible, the probability is zero.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:17:07).

  • According to Darwin, the evolution of organs parlement (nullify / obsolete) the evolution of the organisms. For example the eye, this very complex organ, started out, according to Darwin, as a light sensitive spot on the surface. After millions upon millions of years, this light sensitive spot became a depression. additional millions upon millions of years passed and the depression became a pit. And then million of years caused a lens to develop in that depression. Well according to this scenario, creatures existed for millions upon millions of years in total blindness, await the evolution of the 20/20 vision, the evolution of the eye. And this – of course to you and to me this logically does not make sense. And now we see by mathematical law that the probability is zero that this happened haphazardly. Do you know how many things are in the eye? the lens, the cornea, the retina, the – there is – I can give you a list, two pages of components of the eye, each one of them cannot be haphazardly ??born?? (speech unclear, please contact me if you know what is being said, thanks). We have now these laws of mathematics telling us that the probability is zero.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:20:18).

  • Let me give you some examples. The dragonfly has thirty thousand (30000) lenses in each eye, thirty thousand of them. Now for millions of years the dragonfly existed with thirty thousand lenses in each eye. What kind of intelligence told the dragonfly to stop evolved at thirty thousand (lenses), imagine the little area of the small eye of the dragonfly divided into thirty thousand cones, and each cone is fitted with a perfectly shaped lens. Imagine that. Now why did the dragonfly stop at thirty thousand (30000), why not a couple hundred (100) more or a couple thousand (1000) more. Who told the dragonfly that this is enough evolution for your eye?

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:20:36).

  • How about the housefly? four thousand (4000) lenses in each eye, the housefly has four thousand (4000) lenses in each eye. Now what kind of intelligence told the housefly to stop evolving the eye at four thousand (4000) lenses. For millions of years, the fly had four thousand (4000) lenses in each eye. Now who told it to stop evolving. Why not go on towards five thousand (5000) lenses. The honeybee has six thousand three hundred (6300) lenses in each eye, and again we face the same question. And if you pursue that question it will prove the existence of a super-intelligent being that told these organisms to stop evolving their eye at a certain number of lenses. So this is the irony of it.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:22:16).

  • So while evolution is proven to be correct by scientific research, the initiation life – or the origin of species is proven to be not probable; the probability is zero. And therefore it had to be created by a super-intelligent creator. And we will discuss this matter and see the mathematical evidence supporting it, before the end of this program.
  • Let us look at some established facts that you and I have witnessed in the last few years. The first fact is, that despite our tremendous scientific advances, these great achievements, not a single scientist, not a single researcher, not a single laboratory has succeed in initiating life from inorganic, inanimate matter. They utterly failed in duplicating Charles Darwin’s basic concept; that life evolved from inanimate inorganic matter.
  • What the scientists succeeded in doing was to synthesize amino acids and proteins from oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and so on. This is the extent of our success in the lab. We could not produce life. Now, of course it is natural that we can make amino acids or proteins from oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen and so on – after all, these are the ingredients that make up amino acids and proteins. It is no big deal that you create the circumstances for the ingredients to link up together and make up these chemicals. But these are dead chemicals – dead molecules with amino acids and proteins. And some people would say; “these are the building blocks of life”, well that is right, these are the building blocks, but this is the extent of it, just that, building blocks. Now if you take a bunch of building blocks and put them in the corner and leave them there for thousands of years – will they assemble themselves into a building? with a deliberate design? of course not. So as scientists we succeeded in creating the building blocks, but we could not create the building. This is a very important fact.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:25:08).

  • The debate between evolutionists and creationists, was so hot and so emotional. That some of my fellow scientists gave up their scientific objectivity, and I find myself forced to criticize fellow scientists for behaving like unscientific creationists. Let me give you a good example; has to be with the booklet published by the National Academy of Sciences back in 1983. In that booklet they published a picture one of the favorite pictures, the skulls of a number of hominids. And they concluded from that picture, that the skull of the more advanced hominid evolved from the more primitive skull. That the advanced skull evolved from the primitive skull. Well this is a perfectly valid and scientific conclusion, there is no problem with that. But the problem is that the academy ignored an equally valid conclusion that these skulls, the animals that possessed these – or the creatures that possessed these skulls, simply existed independently – independent of each other without any relationship what so ever. Now scientific objectivity dictates that you present both views, that the skulls evolved from each other, and – or the skulls existed independently of each other.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:26:24).

  • This kind of abandoning scientific objectivity resulted from the high emotionalism and fanaticism on both sides of the evolution creation issue. But scientists should never abandon their objectivity, we would be in deep trouble if we abandon our objectivity. We cannot say evolution is a fact and it is up to the rest of the world to prove otherwise, this is putting the cart before the horse. When we say that this evolution business is a theory, the burden of proof is on us to provide the evidence that evolution is a fact. It is our duty to establish evolution as the truth, not the other way around.

  • To summarize; we all appreciate the power of mathematics as a pure science, the most scientific of all sciences. And we are all familiar with the simple formula of Einstein’s; E=mc^2, and we are familiar with the tremendous consequences of such a simple formula. Mathematics is an objective and powerful tool, that can tell is exactly what events in the world are probable, and what events are not probable.
  • We have been talking about DNA; the genes; thirty billion (30000000000) nucleotides in the human gene that interact with other life processes. We are not talking about a toy, you know when you go to the toy store and buy a bunny rabbit for example, it has ears and realistic eyes – but these eyes don’t see, and this toy rabbit  doesn’t have any sense, or DNA, or nucleotides that are arranged, or any life actions and reactions. We are assuming here that we are just talking about the simple arrangement of nucleotides in specific sequences and specific quantities, we are talking about just psychical arrangement. The probability is – this infinitesimally small probability is multiplied by other infinitesimally small probabilities when we interact the nucleotides, the DNA, with the other life processes in the cell and throughout the organism.
  • Now we can use the same powerful tool to prove the alternative – namely; creation. Now how in the world can anybody prove creation. Nobody could imagine anything that can prove creation. But you know something, about a hundred years ago we could not envision TV, or the telephone, or communication satellites, but here we are. If you can see your great grandfather today and describe the television to him, he would disagree with you, he would think you went crazy. So similarly we could not imagine anything that could prove or disprove creation. But how about a coded message from outer space. Did you ever think about that? a coded message from outer space, telling you; “I am the creator, and this is how I did it”. A message that will give you all the details. Many of you are familiar with Carl Sagan’s latest novel called “Contact”. In Contact he presented a fictitious story about a coded message from outer space, from some intelligent life out there, and the message was decoded by computers and so on. And you know something, this is not fictitious at all, I am here to tell you that we actually received a coded message, mathematically coded message, from the super-intelligent Creator, telling us exactly what happened; how the universe, the six million species of living organisms in this universe, and the Earth came to be. (there is only life on our planet).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:32:55).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:33:06).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:33:18).

  • Now that we possess this irrefutable mathematical proof, that came from outer space from the super-intelligent creator. We can look back and at least smile at statements even from some of the leading creationists. Let me quote for you one of those leading creationists, Duane Gish, he said: “it is impossible to conceive an experiment that could disprove the possibility of creation, creation thus does not fulfill the criteria of a scientific theory”, end of quotation.
  • So even the creationists gave up, thinking that there could never be anything to prove or disprove creation. But here we are just like any other discovery, we find this mathematically coded message from the super intelligent creator. The first hint of the mathematical code was reported about nine hundred (900) years ago by a Jewish rabbi; Rabbi Judah the Pious. And by the way I’m talking here about unaltered; original; untranslated scripture, this is very important, very crucial. Because there has been many distortions, and changes, alternations, losses, additions to the scriptures. And we have to be extremely careful to know that we are dealing with original, unaltered, untranslated scriptures, literally the very same words that the creator brought down or sent to us.
  • So what Rabbi Judah found – let me quote for you, it is easier this way: “the people” – now this is – this quotation is from a book called Studies in Jewish Mysticism, it was edited by Joseph Dan and Frank Talmage, and this is what they said: “the people, Jews, in France, made it a custom to add in the morning prayer, the words; “Ashrei temimei derekh”; blessed are those who walk the righteous way. And our Rabbi the Pious of blessed memory wrote that they were completely and utterly wrong, it is all gross falsehood because there are only nineteen (19) times” – now pay attention to these numbers – “there are only nineteen (19) times that the holy name is mentioned in that portion of the morning prayer. And similarly you find the word Elohim nineteen times in the pericope of Ve-‘elleh shemot… similarly you find that Israel is called “sons” nineteen times. And there are many other examples. All these sets of nineteen are intricately intertwined, and they contain many secrets and esoteric meanings…”
  • So this was the first hint of a mathematical composition in the message that came to us from the creator, some kind of a code. Now, you realize now that it is important to find original scripture, unchanged. And just like the evolutionists looking for fossils and skeletal remains – scientists have been looking the world over for original scriptures. You have heard about the Dead Sea Scrolls, and all the finds in the pots, in the Middle-East, in many places. All these are attempts, some of them are failures, and some of them are successes.
  • So I set out to find an original scripture. And there is – here is the result: in this whole world there is only one scripture that was never altered; not a single letter was changed in this scripture, and that scripture is the Quran. So what I did was I got the Quran, an original copy, with the original Arabic, and I put it in the computer, and I decoded an intricately mathematical code that is clearly beyond human capability. So now we have physical proof, using the ultimate in scientific evidence; mathematics. Telling us everything that happened. That there is a super-intelligent creator, and in that message we see how we came into being, why we are here, where we are going, and many many other answers to lots of our most urgent questions.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:38:19).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:38:26).

  • Before I put the Quran in the computer, I noticed for a unique phenomena that you will never find in any other literary work. I noticed for example that chapter two of the Quran has in the first verse – there are only three letters in the first verse, that is it: “A, L, M”, that is verse one of chapter two. And these letters remained mysterious for fourteen hundred (1400) years, scholars and scientists of all kind has been looking at this initials A, L, M and the other initials in Quran, trying to figure out what they mean, and they could not do it – the computer did it, recently.
  • And to give you and idea, if you count the letters A, L, and M, in chapter two of Quran, you will find that the total is nine thousand eight hundred ninety-nine (9899), this number 9899 is a multiple of nineteen (9899 / 19 = 521).
  • Remember the work of Judah – Rabbi Judah the Pious? the number nineteen (19) turns out to be the common denominator in the older scripture and in the newer scripture. Nineteen (19) is the common denominator in the Bible; the original, unaltered Bible. And also in the latest edition of the scripture; the Quran. And this is very important.
  • Now there are twenty-nine (29) chapters in Quran, covering half the Quran, the Quran has hundred fourteen (114) chapters, some of them are longer, and some are shorter. But the twenty-nine (29) initialed chapters constitute half the Quran. And this mathematical system goes from the very simple to the very complex. So it is suitable for people of all levels of education.
  • For example; chapter fifty (50) is entitled; “Q”, that’s it – just one letter; “Q”. And it is initialed with the letter Q (the first verse). The computer said that this chapter contains fifty-seven (57) Qs. When you count them – you can count them if you know the Arabic letters – and you find that the total is fifty-seven (57) – nineteen times three (19×3).
  • There is one other chapter in Quran that is initialed (the first verse) with the letter Q, and that is chapter forty-two (42), which happens to be more than twice as long as chapter fifty (50) entitled Q. And if you count the letter Q in chapter forty-two (42), you will find exactly the same number; fifty-seven (57). So the only two (2) Q initialed chapters have the same number of Qs, fifty-seven (57) and fifty-seven (57).
  • Chapter sixty-eight (68) is initialed with the letter N, as in Nancy; N – and you count the letters N in this chapter, and you come up with hundred thirty-three (133) – nineteen times seven (19×7). And this goes on and on. And it gets more and more complex, until you realize this is not human fabrication, that this is way beyond human ability.
  • For example we have seven (7) chapters that we see initialed with the letters “H, M” – seven of them, about one-tenth – they constitute one-tenth of the whole book. And when you count the letters H; “haah”, and M; “meem” – in these seven chapters, you come up with the total two thousand hundred forty-seven (2147), and this is a multiple of nineteen(19×113); the common denominator throughout the scriptures, the coded message from the creator to us. Two thousand hundred forty seven, now if only one letter “H” or one letter “M”, was lost or added in the last fourteen hundred (1400) years, you would end with two thousand hundred forty-eight (2148), and this is not a multiple of nineteen, the whole system collapses (19×113,0526315789474). Or two thousand hundred forty-six (2146), because mathematics is a pure science, it is the most sensitive scale and if you remove one number; you don’t have a multiple of nineteen (19×112,9473684210526).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:42:54).

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:43:03).

  • By the time the computer was done with the mathematical analyses of Quran. A vast mathematical code emerged and you could see that every letter, every word in Quran is precisely calculated beyond human ability and you will be absolutely convinced that this is a message from our super-intelligent creator, telling us exactly what happened. Let me give you another good example, because some people might think that only the initialed chapters are mathematically composed, this simple example is that the opening statement in Quran consists of four words. And the number of letters in this statement is nineteen (19). It is an important statement, it says; “in the name of God, the Gracious; the Merciful.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:44:25).

  • And it is considered the most important statement in Quran. It consists of nineteen letters and every word is found in the whole book in multiples of nineteen. For example the first word; “ism”, or “name”, is mentioned exactly nineteen times throughout the whole book.
  • The second word is God; “allah”, and it is found two thousand six hundred ninety-eight times (2698), this is nineteen times hundred forty-two (19×142).
  • The third word “the gracious” in Arabic: arrahamn, is mention in the whole book fifty-seven times – nineteen times three (19×3).
  • The last word “arraheem”, or the merciful, is mentioned hunted and fourteen times 114, or nineteen times sex (19×6).
  • Now right there you can appreciate that this cannot happen in a human fabricated book, in a human made book. Because we can go to the library – if you go to a library and examine one million human-made books, how many books will you find where the opening statement consist of X numbers of letters, and every word in the opening statement repeated in the whole book in multiples of X, how many? Again, the law of probability say zero, you will not find a book where all the words of the opening statement comply with this criteria. So there you have it, a very simple – this very simple phenomena by the way, was published in the Scientific American in the September 1981 issue, and the comment on it was; “this is an ingenious study of the Quran” – I was really flattered.

  • What does this have to do with the evolution / creation issue? well we have here a vitally important document, from the super-intelligent creator, telling us in words and letters that are mathematically composed beyond human intelligence. Telling us exactly what happened. And in this document, we see that life began in water, just like Darwin said. So this portion of Darwin theory is confirmed.
  • We also see evolution and changes in creation, in Quran chapter thirty-five; verse one (35:1), and in chapter sixteen; verse eight (16:8), we see that evolution is a continuing process. So according to this vitally important document, evolution is a divinely guided process. Evolution is a creation of the super-intelligent creator, and it is something that is happening now on continuous basis. We learn that every one of us was individually created, and the evolution that is taking place is individually controlled and guided by the super-intelligent creator.
  • One of the most exciting things about this document, is that the dichotomy; the great rift between science and religion is eliminated. We now see this document from the super-intelligent creator telling us that evolution is the creator’s work, and that it is going on continuously, and therefore there is no need for this dichotomy between science and religion.
  • So what we see here is mathematical; irrefutable evidence, that creation and evolution both are correct, and they compliment each other. Of course we have to examine the existing theory of evolution and creation, and correct them in the view of the new statements that came to us from the super-intelligent creator.
  • While on the subject on confirming or rejecting existing scriptures. I must point out that this mathematically composed document from the super-intelligent creator; the Quran, set the record straight as far as many existing creationist ideas are concerned. For example, we learn that the earth is billions of years old, not five thousand (5000) or ten thousand (10000) years old.
  • And we learn that the Earth is egg shaped, as I mentioned before – not flat.
  • And we learn that Noah’s Ark for example, did not look like what we see in the pictures of Bible stories and so on. Noah’s Ark was simply a raft; made of logs tied together with primitive ropes. And Noah did not carry all the animals of the Earth on his ark either; or this raft, he carried his domesticated animals to save himself, his family, and his animals from the flood. And the flood did not cover the whole world as we hear as youngsters. The flood was a local flood, all this is proven by mathematically composed statements from the creator Himself.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:50:26).

  • It is very important to realize that the prevalent creationism has nothing to do with the original untranslated Bible. That’s right. The prevalent creationism is a product of medieval storytellers, and ignorant interpretations and mistranslation of the original Bible. For example; the Bible says clearly that one (1) of our days is the same as one thousands (1000) years of your Lord’s – or the day is equal to fifty thousand (50000) years if you look at the Quran in chapter seventy; verse four (70:4). So we are told clearly that one of our day is not equal to any other day. When you go to the Moon, the day equals fourteen (14) Earthly days. If you go to Mercury, for example, the day over there is eighty-eight (88) of our days. So the minute you leave this tiny planet Earth, the day is no longer 24 hours.
  • So the truth is the Bible does not say that the Earth is six thousand (6000) or ten thousand (10000) years old.
  • The Bible does not say that Noah’s flood covered the whole world. And the original Bible does not say that Noah carried all these animals on the ark, and the ark did not look like an aircraft carrier either.
  • These misrepresentations of the Bible actually give Christianity and religion in general a bad name. Most people who are pushing prevalent false creationism are doing a terrible disservice to Christianity and to the Bible, because these misrepresentations are not the truth.
  • Scientific findings – and now mathematics – support the truth in the Bible (the original unaltered Bible). And we must remember that the creationism that is prevalent today is false, the true creationism agrees one hundred percent (100%) with science.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:52:53).

  • It is the prevelance of these ideas that are completely rejected by scientists, and scientific findings and established facts. These ideas called Darwin’s disillusionment with religion. Let me quote for you what Darwin said, as a result of these prevalent creationist ideas.
  • I’m quoting now: “I gradually came to disbelieve in Christianity as a divine revelation… Thus disbelief crept over me at a very slow rate, but was at last complete“.
  • And we cannot blame Darwin for seeing that the Earth is billions of years old, as established by science, while creationist idea say that the Earth is six thousand (6000) years old. You cannot blame the man for not believing that Noah carried all animals; the lions, the giraffes, the polar bears, an the giant worms of Australia on his Ark. And you cannot blame Darwin for not believing that the flood of Noah covered the whole world. So all these things are now set straight. We learn from this document, that the Quran complements the older scriptures, and confirms the majority of the truth in those scriptures, and consummates the whole message from the creator to us.
  • To conclude; we now posses physical incontrovertible evidence that every one of the ~six million (~6000000) species of living organisms came into being through a creation process, then evolution took place, and is going on continuously as a divinely guided and controlled process.
  • Thank you very much.

New Video Begins (intro):

  • Coming up: Excerpts from a radio debate.

(Source: Evolution or Creation, The Final Argument 00:55:39).

Bob (Radio Host):

  • We have invited into our studio; professor Jeff Clark, he is with Arizona State university as an anthropologist, and he maintains that creationism is not a science and therefore does not belong in scientific classes.
  • On the other hand we have Dr. Rashad Khalifa, he is a biochemist, and of course he takes the opposite stand.
  • And we are going through it with our phones open for your opinions about it. It is a hot issue, it is going to be one that is going to be viewed with a great deal of interest by the people in the United States, in the various states. And we are going to find out how this thing is going to evolve.

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Well Bob, I have to make a correction here, in that I will approach the matter from a scientific point of view. I agree with the most of the things that Jeff just mentioned, in that science is our only means to ascertain what the truth is. And we have a very powerful tool – objective and scientific tool – to ascertain what events in the world are probable and what events are not probable, and this powerful tool is mathematics. Mathematics is the most powerful – the most scientific of all the sciences, and it represents the ultimate in scientific proof. I realized that nobody can ever imagine a proof that will prove either evolution or creation, but there is something new and very exciting, and I am here to present it to you.
  • So in essence we are talking about a mathematically coded message from outer space. If you have read Carl Sagan’s “Contact”; he is talking about a novel; a fictitious message from outer space. Now this is not fiction anymore, and I come here with…

Bob (Radio Host):

  • You’re gonna have to put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Jeff Clark:

  • Yes, I dare say (laughs). But in so far the particular aspect of the old testament that is of issue here is that the book of Genesis; it is an origin myth, like any other origin myth, it is not a greater nor lesser than, it is not…

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Well you keep going back, if you are going back to the book of Genesis, it exists…

Jeff Clark:

  • The reason I say that is I believe that that underlies scientific creationism by Henry Morris. Now it is obvious Dr. Rashad Khalifa does not agree with Dr. Morris but still… (Jeff is trying to dismiss Dr. Rashad Khalifa’s argument by associating it with the work of Henry Morris).

Rashad Khalifa:

  • That is right, and he is not here right now, I am debating with you.

Jeff Clark:

  • Ah, that is quite true. But who has written a text on scientific creationism? Henry Morris. And who is the founder of the Institution of Creation Research? Henry Morris. (Jeff is still trying to dismiss Dr. Rashad Khalifa’s argument by associating it with the work of Henry Morris).

Rashad Khalifa:

  • How long ago was that?

Jeff Clark:

  • Well, it goes back about twenty (20) years, as far as my…

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Well we are talking about now. But as soon as this program is over I will show you irrefutable mathematical evidence, that we have a document from out space; from the creator, telling us exactly how things happened…

Bob (Radio Host):

  • How are you going to prove that in the supreme court for heaven’s sake.

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Absolutely, I will prove it in any court.

Bob (Radio Host):

  • Alright, we have to take some calls, this is getting interesting; messages from outer space.

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Absolutely.

Bob (Radio Host):

  • That absolutely prove creationism is a fact?

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Absolutely, yes sir.

Bob (Radio Host):

  • Alright, is it possible that there is some sort of a gigantic protoplasm somewhere around cosmos, with all the ingredients and all of this energy – that can in fact create things. I’m not talking about an old man in a robe with a beard, and pearly gates and things like that. I’m talking about – is there a possibility with our limit knowledge to envision some sort of humongous thing that thinks, that can create things.

Jeff Clark:

  • Well you can envision anything that you want, and they have obviously not in the strict rigorous sense but most…

Rashad Khalifa:

  • You are not saying this about God, but….

Jeff Clark:

  • Gods are – gods are the servants of the societies and the cultures that create them, they have no existence apart from the societies that created them.

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Even if it is proven to you?

Jeff Clark:

  • Well I would like to see somebody prove it to me.

Rashad Khalifa:

  • I’m glad you would like to see it because I can show it to you, there is no escape now, that there is a super-intelligence out there, either proving the theory of evolution; ironically – or the theory of creation.

Peace,

I hope this has been useful for you and that you have learned the details about the debate between Evolution and Creationism. I decided to write the whole video into a text format for those of us who prefer to read instead of watching hour long videos. It makes it easier to understand what is being said without having to go back and forth whenever the video goes too fast. This is especially true if English isn’t your first language, or if your English skill is low. So I really do hope this has been useful to you.

Another benefit is that I can include links to other material for further research, so that the reader doesn’t have to spend a lot of time searching the Internet and all kinds of websites just to find specific information. Instead it will be available at the click of a button.

None of the images, videos or audio is owned by me unless stated otherwise, such as being signed with my name. All copyrighted materials are being used under fair use for educational purposes.

Essentials of Submission (Islam) by Rashad Khalifa – Transcript

Announcer:

  • Important Clarification about this video titled “Essentials of Submission (Islam)”, by Rashad Khalifa, Ph.D.
  • In this video, Dr. Rashad Khalifa mentions that the Obligatory Charity (Zakat), is given once a year, calculated on the net worth of your possessions.
  • However, Dr. Rashad Khalifa later confirmed and preached that the correct method of Zakat as per Quran (6:141), is to give it on the day you receive income (the Day of Harvest), calculated on your net income.

(The text in this transcript has been edited to match this change. And references to the Dawn Contact Prayer in the video have also been corrected within this transcript. Other edits include the removal of repetitive words, such as: “”la”, means “no”, “la”, means “no””. – Ahmad Wehbe).

Video Intro:

  • What is Islam?
  • Essentials of Islam
  • Your host – Rashad Khalifa
  • Photographer – Kathleen Clarke

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem – in the name of God, most Gracious, most Merciful.
  • Islam actually began with the first man, the first human being; Adam. He was the first messenger of God, he brought to his children and grandchildren the message of worshiping God alone, and this is Islam, submitting to God – worshiping God alone.
  • A series of messenger after Adam brought the same message; worship God alone. The first commandment in the Bible, the message of Moses, the message of Jesus, the messages of all the prophets of Israel:David, Solomon, and so on, is one and the same – the first commandment; worship God alone, with all your heart, and your body, all your soul. Worship God alone, the Quran states very clearly that the religion as far as God is concerned, is Islam (submission) – there is only one religion as far as God is concerned.
  • If you want to me be more specific, the original prophet of Islam is Abraham, because he brought all the religious practices in Islam. And we see this throughout the Quran, for example; sura twenty-one (21); verse seventy-three (73), tells us that Abraham was the original source – of course God is the original source for everything, but Abraham delivered to us the Salat prayer; the Contact Prayers, and the Zakat charity, this is in verse seventy-three (73); sura twenty-one (21). And we see this also with the fasting, the Hajj pilgrimage.
  • All the practices of Islam came to us through the prophet Abraham, the prophet Muhammad contributed the message, the scripture of Islam, which is the Quran.

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:02:51).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:03:00).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:05:10).

  • God created the universe, and created the human race, and out of his mercy he sent messengers, and books to tell us about Him. All these messengers, and all the books that God sent to us; preached one and the same religion. The first messenger was Adam himself; the father of all humanity.
  • After him came messengers like: Noah, Jesus, Moses, Muhammad. Muhammad was the last prophet, bringing the last scripture; the Quran. And in the Quran we find everything we need: all the duties, obligations, commandments, prohibitions in Islam. Quran is the final scripture, it is the completion of the message. Because the previous scriptures where suited for that stage of human development. The Quran came to complete the picture, and now we have the final – the complete religion; Islam (submission).
  • The Quran is all you need – in fact, because the Quran said that the Quran is complete, perfect and fully detailed, if you go to any other source, you will be disobeying God, and disobeying the messenger of God Muhammad, who brought this Quran out of his mouth – God brought to us the Quran out of Muhammad’s mouth. And you would be disobeying God and disobeying Muhammad if you follow any other sources besides the Quran.
  • And specifically I mean sources like Hadith, Sunnah, and all the other books and things that the traditions and the customs invented. If you go to any source other than the Quran you will be disobeying God, because clearly God says in sura number six (6); verse hundred and fourteen (114) for example, that the Quran is fully detailed, you don’t need anything else. God says in verse nineteen (19); of sura number six (6), that the Quran is what was given to Muhammad to deliver to the world, and it is the only source for religious guidance, and religious education.
  • The Quran tells us exactly what the essentials of Islam are, and they are, very quickly – I am going into details later on – number one; to believe in God alone, you have no other idols, you are devoted to God alone. And this is represented by the shahada, the first so called pillar of Islam – let us go along with that idea – the first pillar of Islam is the shahada, and the shadaha is stated in the Quran in sura number three (3); verse eighty-one (81) – excuse me, it is verse eighteen (18) – sura three (3); verse eighteen (18), it says; “shahadu allahu”; means “God bears witness” – “annahu la elaha ella hu”; that “there is no God except He”. And also the angels, and those who posses knowledge will make this shahada, which is; “la elaha ella Allah” (لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلله), or “ash-hadu alla elaha ella allah”, this is the first pillar in Islam. Sura number three (3); verse number eighteen (18). The shahada, the first pillar of Islam is “la elaha ella Allah” (لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلله). If you want to make it complete, then you say; “ash-hadu alla elaha ella allah”; “I bear witness that there is no god except allah, the one God”.
  • Now don’t add anything else. Some people who imitate old inventions and old traditions will say: “ash-hadu alla elaha ella allah” and then they make another shahada, that Muhammad is a messenger of God – we know Muhammad is messenger of God, but if you inject this in the shahada, this ruins ruin everything, because now you don’t have God alone, you put an idol – Muhammad – next to God. And this is by the way a very strong prohibition in the Quran, that you put any other name beside the name of allah, the name of God. We find this in sura number thirty-nine (39); verse forty-five (45), you must say – you must devote yourself to God alone, you do not idolize Muhammad and put him next to God. This would be going against God and against Muhammad. So the first pillar of Islam is, shahada; “la elaha ella Allah” (لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلله).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:09:54).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:09:59).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:10:09).

  • So the first pillar of Islam is shahada; “la elaha ella Allah” (لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا ٱلله).
  • The second  pillar is observing five (5) Contact Prayers every day. This is the food for your soul, this is a favor that God is doing for you. You are not doing it for God. And the five Contact Prayers begin before sunrise, you must get up before sunrise in order to feed your soul, give your soul breakfast. Your body will be lazy and will wont want to get out of bed before sunrise, but for your sake, get out of bed before sunrise and do the Dawn Contact Prayer, whereby you contact your creator and feed your soul.
  • The second Contact Prayer – by the way, the details of the Contact Prayers are given on another video tape that we call Principles of Muslim prayers, so be sure you order that tape and see how the Contact Prayers are performed, the correct way, not the traditional innovations that we see in the Muslim world. The second Contact Prayer is the Noon Contact Prayer, and it begins as soon as the sun declines from the highest spot in the sky, that is the Noon Contact Prayer, consists of four (4) units, the Dawn Contact Prayer is two (2) units, the Noon Contact Prayer is four (4) units.
  • The Afternoon Contact Prayer is done about three (3) to four (4) hours after the Noon Contact Prayer – in the mid-afternoon.
  • And the fourth Contact Prayer is the Sunset Contact Prayer – or al-maghrib, and it is done immediately after sunset.
  • And the final Contact Prayer – the Night Contact Prayer – must be done about two (2) hours after sunset.
  • So these are the five (5) Contact Prayers, and they represent the second pillar of Islam.

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:12:24).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:12:31).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:12:41).

  • The third pillar of Islam is fasting, in Arabic; “siyām” (صِيَام). God commands us to fast during one month of the year. And it is the ninth (9th) month of the lunar calendar. Now I am smiling because there is a tremendous test in this system, where the lunar year is shorter than the solar year, and this makes the month of Ramadan move about ten (10) to fifteen (15) days every year, so it comes in the winter sometimes when the days are nice and short and fasting very easy. And moves to the summer where the days are very long, sixteen (16) hours or more sometimes, and the day is hot, and you can’t eat or drink during this long period, and a lot of people will drop out, they will not fast, even though nobody dies by not eating or drinking for twenty-four (24) hours. But some people will drop out, and you can see that the system is designed to show who will fast, and will obey God’s commandment no matter how long the day is. This changing of the day – from short and cold, to long and hot days – will show us who are the dropouts, who will fast only if the day is short, and nice and cold.
  • So this is the third pillar of Islam – fasting during the month of Ramadan (رمضان), the ninth (9th) month of the Islamic calendar.

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:14:31).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:14:39).

  • As you see, the fasting of Ramadan is also designed to tame the wild horse, your body. See – your body wants to eat and drink, and you the real person or the soul dictates on the body saying; “no you are not going to eat or drink until sunset”. Because the fasting consists of not eating, or drinking, or engaging in intercourse – sexual intercourse, from dawn to sunset. Dawn means about two hours before sunrise, to sunset. No eating, no drinking, no sex. And this is control of your wild horse, you are taming the wild horse, your body. And you can see that God is training you, is teaching you to be a person of strong will. And preparing you for the eternal life of the hereafter; the real life. Of course in the real life that comes after this life – God wants the people who are strong, who practice and exercise, and know how to control themselves – I mean their bodies. This also cause your soul to feed, grow, and develop.

  • The fourth pillar of Islam is charity, in Arabic; “Zakat”. There is a Obligatory Charity, where you sit down and you calculate exactly what you possess – what your possessions are, and you give away a portion, a fixed portion of your net worth. You do this once a year, you pick out a specific day in the year: the last day of Ramadan, the first day of Ramadan, or the first day of January, one day – one fixed day of the year. And you sit down on that day and you calculate how much you are worth, this means you add up the market value of your house, your car, your clothes, anything that you posses. If you sell it all today; how much will it be worth, the fair market value, not the new – the price of the new thing, no, the present market value of everything you possess. And then you give away two and half percent (2.5%) of that. See it is a small percentage, and you do it once a year.

Transcript pauses:

(You do this on the net worth of every source of income. For example, if you receive a royalty check for $100 on Monday, you give 2.5% off of that, which is $2,5. Or if you know you will be getting a paycheck next week, then you can wait. Then you calculate the total net income of this period and give 2.5% off of that. Let’s say you decided to wait until your paycheck comes in, and it is $1000. Take the $100 royalty from Monday and add it to your $1000 paycheck, then you calculate the net of those (before taxes), and you pay 2.5% off of that. So let’s say the $100 and the $1000 are the net values, we add them and get a total net value of $1100. We then take 2.5% off of that, which gives us $27.5. You then pay $27.5 as the Obligatory Charity. – Ahmad Wehbe).

Transcript continues:

  • And it goes to specific people – the Quran lists them in this priority, first (1st) your parents, if your parents are rich – and these are the recipients of your charity – if your parents are rich, the second (2nd) in the list are your relatives, you give this two and a half percent (2.5%) you give it to your relatives, if they are all rich, then you find some orphans, people who do not have support – parental support; a father support or something, and you give this charity to them. After the orphans, you give to the alien; somebody who is travelling and is stranded and doesn’t have the money for the bus fare to go to his home town. So the order of the Quran is: the parents, the relatives, the orphans, the travelling alien, the poor, the beggars and so on. So there is as a specific order for giving these charities.
  • However, there is also a general charity called “sadaqah” (صدقة), and this is a on the spot charity – you are walking in the street and you see a poor person and you want to help, then you help that person, and this is called “sadaqah”, or charity. You are supposed to be charitable the whole year, all the time, you must be charitable, but the Zakat is the Obligatory Charity, where you give it to someone you personally know, you personally know that this fellow is poor and needs help, and you give your two and a half percent (2.5%) to these people that you personally know. You cannot consider the taxes for example as Zakat charity. Because you do not know where the taxes will go, they can go to fix the street or something, or to the army or something.
  • But the idea behind Zakat is that you give it to the people that you personally know are in need. And the Quran as I said, lists the parents first, the relatives, your own relatives – your own, you start with your own people, then you go to other strangers, in that order.

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:20:18).

  • The fifth pillar of Islam is Hajj pilgrimage to the holy land in Mecca. And this is only of course for the people who can afford it. When you can afford it, you go to Mecca and you observe Hajj.
  • And this is commemoration of the prophet Abraham – not the man. not the man Abraham, but his exemplary submission to God. He thought, he saw a dream one time and he thought that God was commanding him to sacrifice his only son Ishmael, and he proceeded to carry out this command even though God did not order him to do it – he just thought in a dream that God was ordering him to do it. But he was willing to sacrifice his own son in submission to God, and of course God intervened to save Ishmael and Abraham from this tragedy. And God substituted a sheep to be scarified instead of Ishmael, and this is what you do when you go to Hajj.
  • And Hajj consists of arriving in Mecca dressed only in a untailored clothes, just a sheet or something, and seamless shoes or sandals – seamless clothes and seamless sandals. Women dress in a regular dress that is simple, so you cannot tell the rich from the poor.

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:22:09).

  • To observe Hajj, you go to Mecca (مكة) dressed in seamless clothes and seamless sandals – this is for the men. The women dress modestly in regular modest dress; all white dress for example, so you cannot tell the rich from the poor.
  • You get to Mecca, and you go around the Ka’bah (ٱلْـكَـعْـبَـة) in Mecca seven (7) times.
  • Then you go between Safā (الصّفا) and Marwah (المروة) – the knolls of Safā and Marwah seven (7) times.
  • Then you go to Arafat – mount Arafat (جبل عرفات), and you stand there the whole day, which is the tenth (10th) day of the twelfth (12th); the last month in the Islamic calendar – the tenth day of the Hijr. You spend that whole day on mount Arafat commemorating God, worshiping and praying.
  • And then you go to Mina – it is a little town near Mecca – you go to Mina for two (2) or three (3) days. Then you go back to the Ka’bah, and go around it seven times, which is called the farewell circumvention around the Ka’bah. And this is it.
  • Now, my advice to you is never to go to Medina (المدينة), because people go to Medina and they ruin their Hajj, they go to the prophet Muhammad’s tomb – mausoleum – and they idolize the prophet, and this ruins everything. It ruins the whole religion not just Hajj.
  • So Hajj must be only in Mecca where you go around the Ka’bah seven (7) times – between Safā and Marwah seven (7) times – you go to Arafat for one (1) day – and to Mina for two (2) or three (3) days, and this is it. These are specific steps that are mentioned in the Quran, And by the way all these duties in Islam came to us through the prophet Abraham. If you look at Abraham – sura number twenty-two (22), the last verse number seventy-eight (78), you will see that Abraham is the source – the father of Islam, and the father of Muslims. And if you look at sura number sixteen (16) verse hundred and twenty-three (123), you see that the prophet Muhammad followed the religion of Abraham. Islam is the religion of Abraham, he is the founder of Islam, and all the duties of Islam came from Ibrahim, not the prophet Muhammad.
  • Muhammad brought the Quran, God brought the Quran through Muhammad. So, this is why some people become confused when you tell them that God says that the Quran is complete, perfect and fully detailed. Because some of the old traditionalists will say: “okay, where is number of raka’at for the noon prayer in the Quran?”, see they forget that the contact prayers, the fasting of Ramadan, the Zakat charity, and the Hajj pilgrimage – all these duties came to us from Abraham, and the Quran says so. If you look at sura twenty-one (21), verse twenty-three (73); it tells you that Abraham started the Salat and the Zakat. And in sura twenty-two (22) – entitled Hajj – you will see that Abraham is the source of Hajj and so on.
  • The Quran says clearly that all duties and obligations came to us through the prophet Abraham. And tells us in sura twenty-two (22), verse seventy-eight (78); that this is the religion of Abraham. The prophet Muhammad simply contributed the Quran. And the Quran is God’s words that came through Muhammad. So watch for this point and don’t let any one trick you into thinking that the Quran is not complete. The most important principle in Islam is; God alone. You must be devoted to God alone, you do not idolize the prophet Muhammad like the Christians did with the prophet Jesus. You devote yourself completely to God alone, and you follow the word of God alone; the Quran alone. No other sources, if you do, you nullify all your work as we see in sura thirty-nine (39), where God says; “if you fall in idol worship, all your works are nullified”, you might do the Salat, the Zakat charity , the Hajj, the fasting and it will be all in vain, unless you are devoted to God alone. And you declare your shahada; “ash-hadu alla elaha ella allah”. This is it. So these are the basic essentials of Islam.

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:26:45).

  • The prohibitions are also important, there are four (4) meats that you cannot eat, for example – and these are:
  • Number one (1): animals that die of themselves, without human interference.
  • Number two (2): pork, the meat of pigs.
  • Number three (3): running blood – running blood that you can put in a glass and cook or drink.
  • Number four (4): animals dedicated to other than God – that are specifically dedicated to Muhammad, or Jesus, or Ali, or somebody.
  • These are forbidden. So if you to the market – you go to the Safeway market for example (Safeway is an American supermarket chain), and you look at the meat. If you want to know if it is halal; permitted, or haram; prohibited – you ask yourself these four (4) questions:
  • 1: Is this meat pork? – the answer is no,
  • 2: Did these animals die of themselves without human interference? – the answer is no,
  • 3: Is this running blood? – the answer is no,
  • 4: Was this meat dedicated to Jesus, or to anyone else, or Saint Francis? – the answer is no,
  • Therefore this is meat is halal, it is okay, you can eat it. If you make it haram (forbidden) – if you prohibit it then you are following some other religion, you are not a Muslim when you do that. So it is very important to follow specifically what the Quran prohibits, if you prohibit anything else – some people go to funny lengths, like prohibiting soaps, and brushes, and shoes, and things like that – and of course this is a religion that is not Islam; that has nothing to do with Islam.

  • Now some people are fascinated by Hajj pilgrimage, and they just want to do it right away. You know – they are fascinated by the exotic country you know; Saudi Arabia, the trip and all that. But my advice to you is to perfect your religion first. Believe me, it is not a very pleasant trip, the million and a half (1.5) or two (2) million people making pilgrimage, and it is an exacting trial – instead of an enjoyment – you’re not going as a tourist. It is a difficult process, and some people may become disillusioned when they go too early, before the faith is strong enough. So be sure to perfect your religion first and then make the Hajj pilgrimage.

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:31:49).

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:32:07).

  • Another thing to guard against with regard to Hajj, is that some people go and do the Hajj pilgrimage – like I said before their faith is strong enough, and they come back buffed up and thinking – “you know; I’m perfect now”, “you know; I’m cool”, “and nobody is like me, I did Hajj you know” – and they – it goes to their head, and they become – it brings the reverse result, they become worse Muslims than better Muslims. So you want to do Hajj pilgrimage after you perfect your religion, and this must make you humble, more humble. And I remember proverb that says; “don’t be humble; you are not that great”.

(Source: Essentials of Islam 00:33:14).

  • Observing the Hajj pilgrimage is very easy, all you do is get ready financially, and with your vacations, and everything. Then you travel to Saudi Arabia; Jeddah (جدة). As soon as you land there, they will assign a guide called; “Mutawwif” (مطوف), to you. And the Mutawwif gives assistance – will tell you exactly what to do. But the main thing is that you memorize the statement; “Labbayka Allāhumma Labbyak”, means; “my Lord I respond to Your call” – “Labbayka Lā Shareeka Laka Labbayk”; “I respond to You, there is no partner with You”. And the whole statement will be taught to you by the Mutawwif.
  • The main statement that you need to know throughout Hajj goes like this; “Labbayka Allāhumma Labbyak”, which means; “my Lord I respond to Your call”, “Labbayka Lā Shareeka Laka Labbayk”; “I respond to You, You have no partners, there is no partner with You, I responds to Your call”. And this is what it looks like. Here is the first word: “Labbayka”, which means “I respond to You”, “I respond to Your call”; “Labbayka”.
  • “Allāhumma”, which means “my God”, or “our God”, “Allāhumma”.
  • “Labbayka Allāhumma Labbyak”.
  • “Labbyaka”, “I respond to Your call”.
  • “Lā”, means “no”.
  • “Shareeka”, means “partner” or “idol”.
  • “Lā Shareeka” – “Laka”; with You”.
  • “Labbayk”; I respond to Your call.”
  • Labbayka Allāhumma Labbyak (my Lord I respond to Your call).
  • Labbayka Lā Shareeka Laka Labbayk (I respond to You, there is no partner with You).
  • This is all you need.
  • And you utter this statement – you memorize it and utter it all the time during Hajj, throughout Hajj, anytime you change direction, you climb a hill, down a hill, you meet friends, you say that; “Labbayka Allāhumma Labbyak, Labbayka Lā Shareeka Laka Labbayk”.
  • The details of the Hajj will be given to you by the guide, that will be assigned to you, as soon as you arrive in Saudi Arabia.

End of Video

Peace,

I hope this has been useful for you and that you have learned the basics of the true Islam (Submission).

Principles of Contact Prayers by Rashad Khalifa – Transcript

Announcer:

  • Important Clarification about this video titled “Principles of Contact Prayers” by Rashad Khalifa, Ph.D.
  • In this video, Dr. Rashad Khalifa refers to the Dawn (Fajr) Contact Prayer as “The Morning” or “Subh” Prayer.
  • However, Dr. Khalifa later confirmed and preached that the prayer must be referred to as the “Dawn” or “Fajr” Prayer, because it is called “Fajr” in the Quran (24:58), and is performed at Dawn (before sunrise), not morning (which is the period after sunrise).

(The text in this transcript has been edited to match this change; reference to “the Morning Contact Prayer” in the video has been replaced with “the Dawn Contact Prayer” in this transcript. Other edits include the removal of repetitive words, such as: “”la”, means “no”, “la”, means “no””. – Ahmad Wehbe).

Rashad Khalifa:

  • Bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem
  • My dear lucky viewers, al-salaamu ‘alaykum
  • This tape will present to you how to observe the Contact Prayer; the Salat.
  • And you are very lucky because you are trying to learn how to make contact with your creator, which is the greatest of all worships.
  • In this tape I will explain to you the meaning of the word Salat. You already heard me call it contact. The word Salat (‏صلاة) is an Arabic word derived from the root Silah (صلة), which means connection or contact, so when you observe the Salat prayers, you make contact with your creator. It is wrong to translate it as pray. As a Muslim when you tell somebody “I pray five times a day”, that is the wrong expression, because other people can tell you “I pray all day”. The correct expression for the Muslim is “I make contact with my creator five times a day”. This is the meaning of Salat.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:04:13).

  • In this program I will present to you where the Salat commandment comes from. The Contact Prayer is mention in the Quran more than seventy times. And I will show you the crucial verses, like where the times of Contact Prayers are mentioned in the Quran. Then I will go on to explain to you the source of the Contact Prayers. When was the first time the contact commandment came to us from God, and how did it come to our generation. I will explain this to you.
  • Then I will move on to explain why does God want us to establish contact with Him. Why did God command us to observe the Contact Prayers five times a day? What is the reason? Does God need the Contact Prayers, or do we need the Contact Prayers?
  • After this I will go on to explain every aspect of the Contact Prayer. I’m going to start with the call for the Contact Prayer; the Azaan (أَذَان). I will go through the details, even the historical development of it. I will show you how the words are written in English, the English transliteration. Then I will go on to the preparation for the Contact Prayers, which is called Wuḍū (وضوء); or ablution. And of course, my sources are always the Quran. There is only one source, and it is this book right here; the Quran. God’s message to you, to me and to the whole world. This is God’s final message to the world. And this is our source, the only source.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:06:00).

  • I will show you where the Wuḍū is mentioned in the Quran and what the details are. Then I will demonstrate for you how to do the Wuḍū. And I will move on from there to demonstrate for you and describe in detail how to do the five daily Contact Prayers. The Dawn Contact Prayer, the Noon Contact Prayer, the afternoon; the sunset; and the night Contact Prayer. I will explain also some of the fine details of a; for example what happens if you miss part of the Contact Prayer in a group. You go to the Mosque and you see a group of people praying; you come in late; what to do? And some other fine details. So I hope this will cover everything you need to know about the Contact Prayer. The most important worship in Islam.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:07:24).

  • You heard me say that the Contact Prayers must be observed five times every day. Okay, where in the Quran do you find these five times? They are specifically defined in the Quran. For example: in sura number eleven (11); ayah or verse number hundred and fourteen (114), we see three times of Contact Prayers. This is what the verse says: “You shall observe the Contact Prayers at both ends of the day, and at night”. So here you have three prayer. At both ends of the day, this is the Dawn Prayer (See animation below) and the Sunset Prayer (See animation below). The Dawn Prayer is before sunrise and the Sunset Prayer is immediately after sunset. And of course; the Night prayer is the last prayer of the day. So here in this verse we have three prayers, we are commanded to do these three prayers. The Dawn, the Sunset and the Night.
  • Now, the Noon Prayer is mentioned in sura number seventeen (17); verse number seventy-eight (78), where it says: “You shall observe the Contact Prayer when the sun begins to decline from the highest point at noon”. So this is a very specific description of the time of the Contact Prayer at noon. As soon as the sun begins to decline from its highest spot of the day at noon, you observe the Noon Contact Prayer. This is sura seventeen (17); verse seventy-eight (78), it says exactly the time of the Contact Prayer at noon.
  • So now we see, the Dawn Contact Prayer (see animation below), the Noon Contact Prayer, the Sunset Contact Prayer, and the Night Contact Prayer. Well this accounts for four (4) of the prayers, where is the fifth (5) one? We find the fifth (5) prayer mentioned in sura number two (2); ayah or verse number two-hundred and thirty-eight (238), two-three-eight (238), where it says: “You shall observe all the Contact Prayers, especially the middle prayer”. The middle contact prayer has to be the Afternoon Contact Prayer, because we have the Dawn Contact Prayer (see animation below), the Noon Contact Prayer, the Sunset Contact Prayer, and the Night Contact Prayer. There is two prayers here and two prayers here, so the middle contact prayer will be the Afternoon Contact Prayer. So there you have it, all five (5) Contact Prayers mentioned in the Quran.
  • By the way, the Dawn Contact Prayer and the Night Contact Prayer are mentioned by name in verse fifty-eight (58) of sura twenty-four (24). Sura twenty-four (24), the verse is fifty-eight (58). It talks about Salat al-fajr (صلاة الفجر‎); this is the Dawn Contact Prayer, and Salat al-isha (صلاة العشاء); this is the Night Contact Prayer. So all five times of the Contact Prayers are decreed in the Quran.

  • And now I would like to discuss with you the source; the original source, of the Contact Prayers.
  • When you look in the Quran, you will notice that before Abraham there is no mention of the Contact Prayers; the Salat. You notice that Noah was telling his people to just believe in God; and ask for His forgiveness, but there is no mention of the Contact Prayers before Abraham. So the original source of the Contact Prayers is the prophet Abraham, who is the father; the founder of Islam. And we see this very clearly in sura number twenty-two (22); verse number seventy-eight (78), the last verse of sura number twenty-two (22). We also see it in sura twenty-one (21); verse seventy-three (73). Where we learn that the Contact Prayers were given to Abraham, as the original founder of Islam. And we see in sura sixteen (16); verse number hundred twenty-three (123), that the prophet Muhammad followed the ways of Abraham. And then we see in sura number eight (8); verses thirty-three (33) to thirty-five (35), and in sura nine (9); verse fifty-four (54), we see that the Salat; the Contact Prayers, were practiced before the prophet Muhammad.
  • So all these – you know, a lot of people are under the erroneous impression that the prophet Muhammad brought these practices, but they came through prophet Abraham, and this is why we don’t see the details of how many units per prayer and these kind of details, we don’t find it in the Quran. Although the Quran is complete; perfect; and fully detailed. So the reason the details of the Contact Prayers are not in the Quran is because they were already in existence when the Quran was revealed. I can tell you to go and buy Crest toothpaste (Crest is a brand), and you will – I don’t have to explain to you what Crest toothpaste is, because Crest is already in existence, all you need to do is go out in the market and buy it. And when the Quran came down; the Contact Prayers; the Salat, were already in existence. And this is exactly why in one of the very early suras; sura number seventy-three (73); al-muzzammil (third sura to be revealed), we see the commandment to observe the Contact Prayers and the Zakat (the Obligatory Charity), because they were already in existence.
  • Abraham being the founder of Islam – what did he contribute to the religion? He contributed all the practices of the religion. #1: The Contact Prayer, #2: The Zakat charity, #3: The fasting of Ramadan; in fact we see that the fasting of Ramadan was slightly modified in the Quran; in sura number two (2); verse one eighty-seven (187), #4: Also Hajj, Hajj in sura number twenty-two (22); we see that it is directly decreed through the prophet Abraham. So Abraham contributed all practices in Islam, you must correct that impression. The prophet Muhammad contributed the Quran, that’s it. But all the practices existed before the prophet Muhammad, they were in existence when the Quran came down.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:16:16).

  • Now we get to the question; why should we pray? Why should we make contact with our creator every day; five times? Repeating the same thing; five times a day? Well the answer is – the obvious answer is first that we do it because our creator commanded us to do so, in the Quran, as I showed you. But what is the mechanism; why does God ask us to contact Him five times a day? Does God benefit from it? Do we benefit from it? And the answer immediately is; God does not need our Contact Prayers, we need the Contact Prayers. And we fully understand the reason for decreeing the Contact Prayers if we know who we are.
  • You see; most people do not even know who they are. You ask a person; “who are you?”, and they will look in the mirror, they will say “this is me”, do you know something? they are wrong. This is not me (Rashad points at his face and touches his facial skin); this is my body. And the body is like a garment that we are wearing temporarily. The real person is invisible to us, the real person; the soul, is in another dimension that is not visible to our eyes (senses). So what does the real person look like? This will lead us to understanding why should we observe the Contact Prayers. You see, you can consider the Contact Prayers the meals for the real person; the food; the nutrition.
  • When we are born our mother feeds us milk and we grow. Then we eat all kinds of food; rice; meat; and potato and so on, and our body grows, until it becomes five feet, six feet, whatever. And that is the limit of the body’s growth. Okay, meanwhile; what is happening to the real person; the soul? The body grows to five or six feet, but what happens to the real person? Is the real person nourished just like the body? And this is where most people do not realize the importance of making contact with their creator. Making contact with our creator is the most important nutrient for the soul. We need it to grow and develop, and I am talking about the real person. The real person grows and develops by contacting our creator; daily. Five times every day constitutes five meals for the soul. So every time you make a Contact Prayer your soul grows and develops. And this is why we are commanded to do the Contact Prayers.
  • You can imagine the person who does not feed his or her soul, at the end of living in this world; they are still babies, because they never feed their soul. But the Muslim – the person who observes the duties and practices of worship; this person feeds the soul, and the soul grows and develops immensely. And we end up our mission in this world; grown; and developed; and healthy; and fit for the real life, the eternal life that comes after this life. The Contact Prayers therefore are very important, think of them as the meal for the soul; for the real person. The Dawn Prayer is breakfast for the soul; for you; the real you, just like how you give your body breakfast; lunch; and dinner, you need – for yourself; the real person, you need meals also. The Noon Prayer is lunch for the soul. And the Afternoon Prayer is another meal. And the Sunset Prayer is another meal; nutrition for the real person. And the Night Contact Prayer is the dinner for the soul. So nourishing; developing; and growing the soul is the reason for observing the Contact Prayers, and we are the ones who need it – God does not need it.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:20:39).

  • All practices of worship in Islam, without exception, are designed to cause the soul; the real person; the real you, to grow and develop. They are all designed to make you the boss over your body. A lot of people – in fact; the majority of people are enslaved to their body; their outer garment, that is temporary. Some day this garment is going to vanish, and you; the real person, will remain forever; for eternity. So most people, unfortunately, are unaware of nourishing; and strengthening; and developing their soul; the real person. But all practices of worship in Islam are designed to cause the soul to grow and develop, nourish the soul.
  • For example the Dawn Prayer, let’s take the Dawn Contact Prayer. Before sunrise; what does the body – what does your body want? Your body wants to sleep, right? But your soul; you; the real you; the real person, needs to get up, do the ablution, and observe the Contact Prayers; make contact – the first contact of the day with your creator. So immediately you can see there is a fight, the body wants to sleep, and the soul needs to get up and nourish itself; and have breakfast. Now who is going to win? If your body wins, you continue to sleep. And the body is the temporary garment, it is not very smart to let the body win, right? If you win, you; the real person, wins; your body will obey and will say “yes sir”; will listen to you; obey you, get up out of bed, do the ablution, and observe the Contact Prayer. So you can see that the first Contact Prayer is a struggle between you and your body.
  • By the way, this struggle becomes less and less, as your body becomes more and more obedient to you, as you become the boss; as you develop and become stronger, your body becomes more obedient, and with time – your body, when you say “my body get up and do the Dawn Prayer”, your body will say “yes sir”; obediently. As a matter of fact, eventually you will actually enjoy getting up (at Dawn) and doing the Contact Prayer. And this is because the soul has grown and developed, and became the boss, and enjoys observing the contact with our creator.
  • You look at the fasting for example, one of the important practices is fasting; fasting the month of Ramadan; during the month of Ramadan. And, in the month of Ramadan. Your body wants to eat and drink, but you tell your body, when you fast; “you are not going to eat or drink until sunset”. So you can see that you are practicing; exercising your soul, and this cause your soul to grow; and to develop, and this is exactly the whole idea of being here in this world. We want to grow and develop as much as possible, in order to enter the real life; the eternal life; the hereafter, in a state of fitness; strength; growth; and development. Because in the hereafter, you cannot hold a responsible position in the eternal real life if you are weak; undernourished; and still a baby. Will you hire a baby as a pilot, or an engineer? of course not.
  • So God wants you to develop yourself and to be strong enough to hold a responsible position; a high rank, in the hereafter; the eternal real life. And all practices of worship in Islam are designed towards this end. For example the Zakat charity; what is it? The Zakat charity is simply taking money away from your body and giving it to the poor. So you can see you are being the boss, because the body loves money, and you take something the body loves and give it away. So, all practices of worship in Islam are designed to make your soul grow; and develop – make you the boss over your body. And the Contact Prayers are the most important tool to do so. You are going to notice it the first time you do the Dawn Contact Prayer before sunrise.
  • Let us now get to the details of the Contact Prayers and how to observe them. There are a billion Muslims in the world today; one thousand millions (1000000000) throughout the world, in every country of the world. But in the area that is recognized as the Muslim world, you hear the call for the prayer five times every day; the Dawn, Noon, Afternoon, Sunset and Night. You hear the muezzin (مؤذن); this is the name of the person that delivers the Azaan (أَذَان); or the call to Contact Prayer. And before I get into explaining the Azaan, I wish to remind you that in the last fourteen-hundred (1400) years, lots of customs; innovations; prejudices; superstitions, were added into the Azaan. And what I am going to present to you now is the Azaan of the prophet Muhammad, that he approved. And I am going to remove all the additions, and the superstitions, and nonsense from the Azaan, and I will give you the pure Azaan. I am going to write it for you on the board, so you can see how it is pronounced. And I will have professional Azaans that you are going to hear, recordings of professional muezzins.
  • Now, at the beginning of Islam, the people went to the prophet Muhammad and they said; “how can we call the people to come to the prayer? you know, the Jews have the horn, and the Christians use bells, what are we going to use?”. And with time, the prophet’s companions started the matter and finally it was suggested that somebody stands on top of the mosque, and make the announcement; Allahu akbar; which means God is great, four (4) times. Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar, la elaha ella Allah, there is no god except the one God; which is the message of all God’s messengers to the world. There is really one message that all the messengers that God sent to us, and this message is; la elaha ella Allah; there is no god except the God; allah. So the Azaan consists of: Allahu akbar four (4) times, followed by: la elaha ella Allah.
  • This Azaan that has been approved by the prophet consisting of Allahu akbar four (4) times, then la elaha ella Allah – with time it got so long that in my lifetime; 1953; the Minister of Religious Affairs in Egypt; issued a law to reduce the Azaan – it got so long and so ridiculous it took ten (10) to fifteen (15) minutes to deliver the Azaan. And it had foolish things; praising the prophet; and his red cheeks and these silly things – the Azaan got really ridiculous.
  • After a few years, some people added to the Azaan; “ash-hadu alla la elaha ella Allah wa ash-hadu alla muḥammadun rasūlu allah” (I bear witness that there is no god except God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God), this was added to the original Azaan. Some years later they added the expression; “ḥayya ʿalā ṣ-ṣalāh”; which supposedly means “come to the prayer”, but it really does not mean that – apparently some new foreign Muslims; that is non Arab Muslims; added that expression; “ḥayya ʿalā ṣ-ṣalāh”; which is not a typical – the Arabic should have been “ḥayya ʿilā ṣalāt”, but they said; “ḥayya ʿalā ṣ-ṣalā”. Then many years later; somebody added; “ḥayya ʿala l-falāḥ”, which supposedly means; “come to the success”. And some other people added the; “ash-hadu alla alīyyun walīyyu-llāh” (I bear witness that Ali is the wall of God), in some parts of the Muslim world. And until now they use these – all these additions are being used in different parts of the Muslim world. Later on some people added the; ” ash-hadu alla ahlul bayt hodat-llāh”, and so on.
  • So the Azaan kept getting longer and longer, as I told you, until the Minister of Religious Affairs in Egypt issued a law reducing the Azaan to its present form in the Muslim world. But here at Masjid Tuscon, and hopefully you will go back to the original Azaan, that the prophet Muhammad approved: Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar; la elaha ella Allah. This is the Azaan that we use here in Masjid Tuscon, and hopefully it will spread all over the world. We have it done like this in many Mosques around the world. That have seen the light and decided to take the Azaan and the prayers – to the original Azaan and prayer of the prophet Muhammad.
  • You know the same thing is true with the Wuḍū. Wuḍū is the ablution; or the preparation for Salat. When people hear the Azaan; or the call to the Contact Prayer, they prepare for the prayer; the Contact Prayer. And they do this by observing ablution, and ablution is decreed in the Quran in sura number five (5); verse number six (6). And it is very specific; it gives you four (4) steps, remember that; four (4) steps of ablution. The average Muslim today has eight (8); or nine (9); or ten (10) steps. Which constitutes actually in reality some other god that added these steps, because they do it religiously, and it constitutes idolatry. So please be careful, and observe what the Quran says; the Quran; the whole Quran; and nothing but the Quran. And the Quran gives us four (4) steps. The first step is washing your face, the second step is washing your arms to the elbows, the third step is to wipe your hair (top of head), and the fourth step is to wash your feet. These are the four (4) steps decreed in the Quran, and it is actually a gross transgression to add anything to the four (4) steps, or reduce anything.
  • Some people will say; “what is wrong with washing my nose; and my mouth; and my neck” and all the – “my ears” and so on. Of course there is nothing wrong with extra cleanliness; go take a bath or a shower if you want to, but when it comes to religious practices; we must adhere to what our creator dictated exactly. We cannot increase it – reduce it; or increase it by anything. So it is very crucial that we follow what our creator said in the Quran. These are the words that came out of prophet Muhammad’s mouth. Ironically, those people think that they are following the prophet Muhammad by increasing the number of steps in ablution – and you and I know that the prophet Muhammad could never disobey God. So if God said four (4) steps; this is it, the ablution is four (4) steps. So now let us go to show you – demonstrate for you the four (4) steps of ablution; the Wuḍū.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:33:21).

  • We find this commandment in sura number five (5); verse number six (6). And I will quote the verse for you; it says: “Oh you who believe, when you get up for the Salat prayer; you shall wash your face; your arms to the elbows; wipe your hair (top of head); and wash your feet.” Four (4) steps, and these are the words that came out of prophet Muhammad’s mouth, these are the words of God. And God is saying; you shall observe the ablution four (4) steps. Washing the face, arms to the elbows, wipe your head, and wash your feet. These are the four (4) steps as dictated in Quran.
  • However, like everything else innovations; superstitions; traditions, crept into God’s commandment, and Satan distorted the commandment. Now the vast majority of Muslims observe something like nine (9) or ten (10) steps of ablution. And this is a very serious because it simply means there is some other god who told them to do the ablution nine (9) steps, they wash their hands, their mouth, their nose, their face, their ears, their neck, they have all kinds of innovations and additions. And I would like to warn you, that you must never increase the steps or decrease them – the steps of ablution, you must obey exactly what God told you; in Quran. If you want to wash more, might as well take a shower or do whatever you want, but outside the ablution. If you are taking a shower or a bath, you can do the ablution after the shower or the bath, while you are still in the shower. But you have to go through the motions of ablution as I will show you now.
  • So let me show you – demonstrate to you how to do the ablution. First of all you roll your sleeves so you can wash your arms to the elbows (Rashad rolls up his shirt’s sleeves), there we go, we are now demonstrating the ablution. You go to the faucet, and the first step in Quran is wash your face, so you wash your face; here we go (washes face) – bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem – okay let me stop right here, and remind you of something. You should make an intention, that is you say “I intend to observe the Wuḍū, or the ablution”. Before you do that, you say “bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem”, you commemorate God in any way you want, you say: “al hamdu Lillah”; “subḥānallāh”; “Allahu akbar”, anything you want to commemorate God. But if you want to say it in Arabic, the intention should be; “nawayatu al-wuḍū, bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem”.
  • So here we go; “bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem, nawayatu al-Wuḍū”.
  • This is the first step; you wash your face (washes face). Okay, I washed my face twice, and I feel like I did a good job, so this is good enough. There is no set number of washing your face.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:36:36).

  • The second step; the arms to the elbows, so here we go, washing the arm to the elbow (washes right arm up to the elbow), that is the right arm, now the left arm; same thing (washes left arm up to the elbow). And this takes care of the second step.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:37:12).

  • The third step is you wipe your hair (wipe top of head), so what I will do is I will wet my hands and then I wipe my hair – my head, like this (wipes top of head), and this is the third step.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:37:26).

  • The final step (fourth step) is wash your feet to the ankles, so you put your foot there (washes right foot), wash it thoroughly, this takes care of the right foot. And then the left foot (washes left foot).

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:37:37).

  • That is it; there you have it. The four (4) steps of Wuḍū. Very simple. Don’t add any more steps, and don’t reduce the steps.
  • Now that you have finished the four (4) steps of Wuḍū; wash your face, your arms to the elbows, wipe your head and wash your feet – you are ready for the Salat Prayer. So now let us go back to the masjid and show you how to observe the Salat Prayers, all five (5) of them.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:38:50).

  • The innovations; superstitions; prejudices; customs; and traditions, did not hit the Azaan and the Wuḍū only brothers and sisters, it also hit the Salat itself; the Contact Prayer. There is so much garbage that we have to remove from the Contact Prayers to make it pure, and make it exactly the Contact Prayers the prophet Muhammad preached and practiced. So, what I am going to present to you is the pure Contact Prayers, without any innovations or additions that happened in the last fourteen hundred (1400) years.
  • We are trying to take the Salat; the Contact Prayers, all the way to the prophet Muhammad, the way he preached it, and the way he practiced it. And the most important point, please pay attention, the most important point, is to never mention any name other than the name of Allah; the name of God, in your Contact Prayer. This is dictated upon us in the Quran. But you probably know that the average Muslim today adds the name of Muhammad and his family, Abraham and his family, and so on, in their Contact Prayers. And this nullifies the Contact Prayers; makes it absolutely useless, if not harmful. So you must be very careful, and this is my responsibility to tell you that. You must be very careful to never mention any name other than the name of Allah; the name of God, in your Contact Prayers. We see this in the Quran in sura seventy-two (72); ayah or verse number eighteen (18), where it says: “the places of worship belong to God, do not mention any other name besides the name of God”, this is a Quranic commandment. And in sura twenty (20); verse thirteen (13), we see the commandment: “akim bi salateeka li zikri”, “observe the Contact Prayers to commemorate me” – singular – God is telling us that we must commemorate him alone in the Salat; in the Contact Prayer.
  • So I will give you the details, of the Contact Prayers, and we will go the mosque now and give you a demonstration. But before I do this, I want to clarify that the ta-chahud; or the recitation while sitting down, should be only: “ash-hadu alla elaha ella allah wahdahuu la shareeka lah”, or just: “ash-hadu alla elaha ella allah”, or just: “la elaha ella allah”, this is enough; “there is no god except the one God”. And forget about all these names; Muhammad and his family; Abraham and his family. Muhammad and Abraham were the first people to denounce this use of their name in the Contact Prayer.
  • And you know something, all the Imams of Sunni and Shia, all of them, unanimously agree that this mentioning of Muhammad and his family; Abraham and his family, while sitting down in the Contact Prayer, is not an obligatory part of the prayer. You heard me right, unanimously, they agreed that this is just a desirable – they think – a desirable part, but it is not, it actually kills your Contact Prayers; makes it useless; and does harm to you, God will be offended to have other names mentioned besides Him. In the daily worship, you are worshiping God alone, so be careful. And this by the way lead to the conclusion that you must recite only al-fateha, the opening sura of the Quran while standing up in the Contact Prayer.
  • Do not recite any other Quran after the al-fateha, and on the surface this might look like abandoning the Quran, it is not, it is the exact opposite, because in the Contact Prayers a lot of people end up memorizing the ???soud??? suras: “qul huwa allahu ahad”, and “qul a’zuu…”, and that’s it, and they think they know Quran. But I must tell you to read Quran every day, you must read the Quran every day, this is a commandment from our creator, to read His message; the Quran, every day, the whole Quran. Not just the ???soud??? suras.
  • But in the Contact Prayers, please you only need recite al-fateha. And this is a unifying force of all the Muslims in the world. I was praying in Mecca one time and the Imam read al-fateha and then he read the whole sura number thirty-two (32), surat al-sajdah after al-fateha. And i was thinking you know there are a few thousands people in there around the Ka’abah praying behind this Imam, and the vast majority of them didn’t know any Arabic. What is the point of standing through all this recitation in Arabic if they don’t understand. What is required is only to recite the al-fateha. And this will unify all the Muslims of the world, they will do the same thing in all their prayer, in Japan they know the al-fateha; they read it in the Contact Prayer, in Sweden; in America; in Canada; in Australia; in Mecca; in Pakistan; all the Muslims of the world will do the same thing.
  • But this business of reciting long portions of the Quran is wrong, it actually ruins the Contact Prayers, God wants things to be easy for us, but Satan wants to make things difficult for us; so he adds all things – besides, when you recite the Quran you mention; Moses; Jesus; and Muhammad; and Pharaoh; and the devil; and all these things. You mention other names besides the name of God in the prayer, and this is forbidden by commandment from God. We are not to mention any names.
  • When you recite the Quran in the mosque and you mention other names is because God says so in the Quran; “fa zakir fi al kitab Mariam” for example, this is God’s commandment, you can mention the name of Mary in the Quran in order to learn from the lessons of previous prophets; messengers; and so on. And it is a commandment from God to mention, so when we read the Quran we mention these names only because God commanded us to do so. But in the Contact Prayers; in the Salat, we are commanded never to mention any other name but the name of Allah, the name of God.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:45:55).

  • After you have done the Wuḍū and you are ready for the prayer, you go to a nice clean place – you don’t necessarily need the prayer rug, this is one of those innovations, you can pray in any clean place, even bare ground; as long as it is dry and clean. So you go to a nice clean place and you find the direction of Mecca, the direction of the Sacred Mosque (Ka’abah), because this is a commandment in Quran, that you must face – this is an organisational point, there is no other significance to it, except organisational. You can imagine people going in a mosque and facing different directions, it would be a mess. So, this organisational point dictates on us that we must face the direction of Mecca, wherever you might be. So, in the United States the direction generally is slightly south of east, slightly south of east; southeast.
  • So find the direction of Mecca, you face that direction and then you make your intention – this is the first step. You must say: “I intend to do the Dawn Prayer”, in any language you like. If you want it in Arabic you can say: “nawaytu Salat al-fajr”, this will be the niyya or intention for the Dawn Prayer. Or if it is for the Noon Prayer you say; in your heart or in an audible voice: “I intend to do the Noon Prayer”, “nawaytu Salat al-zuhr”; in Arabic. If it is the Afternoon Prayer, it is: “nawaytu Salat al-asr”. And for the Sunset Prayer, the niyya; or intention is: “nawaytu Salat al-maghrib”. For the Night Prayer, the intention; or niyya is: “nawaytu Salat al-isha”. So, but you can do it in any language you wish, secretly or loudly.
  • Now after you do the niyya – you are facing in the direction of Mecca, you make your intention; or niyya, then you open the Salat by raising your hands to the sides of your face and say “Allahu akbar”; like this (Rashad raises his hands to the side of his face), “Allahu akbar”. There is your opening of the Salat.
  • Once you say “Allahu akbar” in this manner; you have started your contact; or Salat; your contact with your creator.
  • Now after you make the opening takbir; Allahu akbar, you can either put your hands on the side, or you can choose to hold them like this (resting hands on stomach), with your left hand on your stomach, and your right hand on top of your left hand, it doesn’t make any difference, some people make a big deal out of it, but there is no difference, either way is correct. So this is the opening of the Salat; the Contact Prayer. (Rashad raises hands to the side of his face) Allahu akbar (Rashad lowers hands towards his stomach). Now you are ready to recite al-fateha; the opening sura of Quran.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:48:22).

  • The easiest way for you is to have me write down the words in English transliteration; in English letters. So before you do the Wuḍū; the ablution, you can say your intention: “I intend to make the ablution” or Wuḍū, either in English or in Arabic. So, “I intend to do the ablution” in English, the Arabic would be: “Nawaytu al-Wuḍū”.
  • And you write it like this “nawaytu”, “nawaytu”, which means: “I intend”.
  • Nawaytu al-Wuḍū. “Al” means “the”.
  • Ablution; “Wuḍū”, “al-Wuḍū”.
  • “Nawaytu al-Wuḍū”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:50:15).

  • Let me write the words of Azaan for you: “Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar, la elaha ella Allah”. So in the Azaan we say “Allahu akbar” four (4) times.
  • “Allahu akbar“, meaning “God is the greatest”.
  • “Allahu”; “God”.
  • “Akbar” (greater).
  • Allahu akbar four (4) times.
  • Then “la elaha ellalah”.
  • “La”, means no.
  • “Elaha”, meaning god with a small g.
  • “Ella”, means except. “Ella”; except.
  • “Allah”, means God.
  • “La elaha ella Allah“.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:52:29).

  • So this is the complete Azaan, the original Azaan without any innovations; or additions; or traditions. A lot of people think that Allah is the name of God, but it is not – “Allah”, simply means “God”. The English word for it is God. The non-Muslims in the Arabic world say “Allah”, because this is the Arabic word for God. Even though they are not Muslims. They will say “inshallah”, “allah”, simply because that is the language. It is not the name of God, this is why I use the word – the English word: “God” for “Allah”.
  • (Rashad recites the Azaan) Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar, Allahu akbar; Allahu akbar, la elaha ella allah.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:52:58).

  • I am going to write the niyya; or intention for every prayer for you, so you can see how it is spelled. Here is the niyya; or intention for the Dawn Prayer:
  • “Nawaytu” – “nawaytu” which means “I intend.
  • “Salat” – “Salat al-fajr” – “al” – “fajr” – “al-fajr”. “I intend to do the Dawn Prayer” – “nawajtu Salat al-fajr”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:54:25).

  • Now, to make it the Noon Prayer, you just – you say the same thing except you change “al-fajr” to “zuhr” which means “noon”. “nawaytu” – “nawaytu Salat al-zuhr”. This will make it the Noon Prayer – “al-zuhr”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:54:43).

  • For the Afternoon Prayer you just make it “al-asr”. “Salat al-asr”, you write AYN like this   -. “nawaytu Salat al-asr”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:55:06).

  • The Sunset, you make it “al-maghrib”. “nawaytu Salat al-maghrib” – it is written like this: “al-maghrib”. “nawaytu Salat al-maghrib”, this is the Sunset Prayer.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:55:34).

  • And the Night Prayer is: “al-isha”. “nawaytu Salat al-isha” – “al-isha”. “nawaytu Salat al-isha”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:56:02).

  • By now you know how Allahu akbar is written, the opening of the Contact Prayer “Allahu akbar” – this is followed by surat al-fateha and it is written like this:
  • The first verse is “bism allah”. “Arrahman”. “Arraheem”. “bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem”.
  • “Al hamdu”. “Lillahi”. “rabbil ‘alamin”.
  • Okay, “bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem”, means “in the name of God most Gracious most Merciful”.
  • “Al hamdu Lillahi”, means “praise be to God.
  • “Rabbil ‘alameen”, means “Lord of the universe”.
  • “Bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem, al hamdu Lillahi rabbil ‘alameen”; “in the name of God most Gracious most Merciful, praise be to God, Lord of the universe”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 00:58:13).

  • And the next statement is familiar to you: “Arrahman Arraheem”; “most gracious most merciful”.
  • And the next statement is: “maliki”; means “master” or “king”.
  • “Yawm”, means “day”.
  • “Addeen”; “recompense”.
  • So “arrahman arraheem”; “most gracious most merciful”, “maliki yawm addeen”; “master of the day of recompense”.
  • “Eyyaka na’abudu”, means “only you we worship”.
  • “Wa eyyaka” means “and only you”.
  • “Wa” means “and”.
  • “Eyyaka nasta’aeen” means “we ask for help, only you we ask for help”.
  • “Wa eyyaka nasta’aeen”; “and only you we ask for help”.
  • The next statement, now of course you can always go back – reverse the tape and watch all these words until you learn them very well by heart.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:00:34).

  • The next statement is “ehdina al-serata al-mustaqeem”; “guide us in the right path”.
  • “Ehdina” means “guide us”.
  • “Al-serata” means “the path”.
  • “Al-mustaqeem”; “the straight” or “the right path”.
  • “Ehdina al-serata al-mustaqeem”; “guide us in the right path”.
  • “Serata” means “the path of”.
  • “Al-lazeena” means those; “the path of those”.
  • “An’amta”, means “those whom you blessed”.
  • “An’amta ‘alayhim”; “you shower your blessings on them”.
  • “Ehdina al-serata al-mustaqeem”; “guide us in the right path”.
  • “Serata al-lazeena an’amta ‘alayhim”; “the path of those whom you blessed”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:02:23).

  • Then we go to the last statement in the al-fateha, “ghoyri al-maghdoobi ‘alayhim”.
  • “Ghoyri” means “other than, or not”.
  • “Al-maghdoobi ‘alayhim”, means “not the path of those who incur wrath, or anger”.
  • “Ghoyri al-maghdoobi ‘alayhim”.
  • “Wa laddalleen” (not the strayers).
  • “Wa” means “and”.
  • “La” means “no” – “nor” “wa la”.
  • “Wa laddalleen”, and this is the end of it – “and not the strayers”.
  • “Ghoyri al-maghdoobi ‘alayhim”; “not the path of those who incur wrath, or anger” – “wa laddalleen”; “nor the strayers”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:03:48).

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:03:57).

  • After you recite al-fateha, then you make ruku; bowing. And as you bow you say: “Allahu akbar”, and you know how that looks like, I wrote it for you. Then during the ruku you say “subhaana rabbiya al-‘azeem”, about three times, it doesn’t matter, two or three or four times.
  • “Subhaana” means “glory be to”.
  • “Subhaana rabbiya”, means “glory be to my Lord”.
  • “Al-‘azeem”, means “the great”.
  • “Subhaana rabbiya al-‘azeem”; “glory be to my Lord the great”.
  • Then you stand up and in this position only you say: “sami’a allahu leman hamidah”, means “God hears anyone who praises Him”. And it is written like this:
  • “Sami’a allahu” (God hears).
  • “Leman”; “anyone”.
  • “Hamidah”; “who praises him”.
  • “Sami’a allahu leman hamidah”, as you stand up.
  • Then you make the first prostration; sujud. And when you do that, you say: “Allahu akbar” as you go down in prostration.
  • And during prostration you say:
  • “Subhaana rabbiya al-‘alaa”, about three or four times, means “glory be to my lord the most high”.
  • “Al-‘alaa”; “the most high”.
  • And this takes care of all the words of the Contact Prayers.
  • Now you know how to say all the words and if you play the tape over and over you can see how exactly they are written down and how they are pronounced.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:06:10).

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:06:59).

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:07:32).

  • In the sitting position you say: “ash-hadu alla elaha ella allah, wahdahuu la shareeka lah”, which means; “I bear witness that there is no god except allah, the one God, he is one. “la sharika lah”; “He has no partners”. And this is how I write it:
  • “Ash-hadu”, means “I bear witness”.
  • “Ash-hadu alla”, (I bear witness that there is no (alla is actually two words, “al” and “la”, the word combination here means al = that there, and la = is no)).
  • “Elaha” means “god with a small g”.
  • “I bear witness that there is no god”.
  • “Ella”; “except”.
  • “Ella allah”; “the one God”.
  • “Wahdahuu”; “He is one”.
  • “Wahdahuu la shareeka lah”; “he has no partner”.
  • “La”, means “no”.
  • “Shareek”, means “partner”.
  • “La shareeka lah”, (he has no partner).
  • And this takes care of the ta-shahud in the sitting position, “ash-hadu alla elaha ella allah, wahdahuu la shareeka lah”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:09:11).

  • And then of course to end the prayer you look at the right side and say: “al-salaamu ‘alaykum”, and then on the left side saying: “al-salaamu ‘alaykum”, and this ends the Contact Prayer. So let me write “al-salaamu ‘alaykum” for you:
  • “al-salaamu ‘alaykum”.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:10:01).

  • There you have it, the complete words of the Contact Prayers.
  • Now let me explain a few fine details about the Salat; the Contact Prayers. One of the most important points, is that there is a myth among average Muslims that a woman who has her period; or menstruation cannot pray. Now this has to be from Satan, because Satan is the one who does not want you; the Muslim woman to pray. God did not say in the Quran at all: “do not pray during menstruation”, there is nothing in the Quran that say that. Even the hadith – we learn from hadith that the prophet’s wives used to pray during their menstruation. One hadith even says that they put a bucket under one of his wives as she prayed – as ridiculous as this may be – but it demonstrates that the Muslim woman should pray during her menstruation. If a Muslim does not pray, during menstruation, this means one week of the month without prayer, and this is like four (4) years every ten (10) years – four (4) years without any prayer, imagine that. So this could be a satanic innovation to stop the women from praying during menstruation.
  • So, please, menstruation or not, the Contact Prayer; the Salat prayer is the only worship that must go on, there is absolutely no excuse for not doing the Contact Prayer. Even God provides that you can pray; walking, or riding in a car, or riding in a plane, or in a bus, or even if a person is very sick; very ill; cannot move, that person can pray with his or her heart, or eyelids, or just mentally. If you are working in crowded place and you cannot find a place to pray, you can pray at your desk, sitting down just mentally going through the motions and the words. So there is absolutely no excuse for missing any Contact prayer.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:12:13).

  • So, whether the person is ill; unable to move, or riding; trapped in a car; or a bus; or a plane, or in a working place where there is no place available for prayer, or during menstruation, or the after birth bleeding, any of these conditions cannot – nothing stops your from performing – observing the Contact Prayers.
  • Another point that I wish to mention is the group prayer; or the jama’a. In the jama’a, one person leads the prayer and the rest of the group stand behind him, behind the imam, and do exactly what he does, you do not have to recite al-fateha or the Quran after the imam. Remember, all that is required in the Contact Prayer is the al-fateha, the first sura of Quran. so you just mentally follow the imam as he recites al-fateha during the Contact Prayer. And then of course in ruku; the bowing position, you say “subhaana rabbiya al-‘azeem” as usual. And in the sujud or prostration you say “subhaana rabbiya al-‘alaa”, as usual. So, you only listen to the imam when he recites al-fateha in the standing positions. If a person comes late, and finds the jama’a the group already did one for two or three rak’as; units, you just – if you come late, you just join the group in whatever position they are in, and then after they finish, when they say “al-salaamu ‘alaykum”, the first one, you stand up and you complete the part that you missed. So this is how you make up for missing units, or missing rak’as when you join a group.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:14:21).

  • What happens if you miss one of the prayers; one of the Contact Prayers? You are supposed to do all five Contact Prayers during each one of the five periods, the Dawn Contact before sunrise, the Noon between twelve (12:00) and four (16:00), and the Afternoon between fourteen (14:00) and sunset, the Sunset Contact immediately after sunset, and the Night Prayer after all the twilight disappears from the horizon; about two hours after sunset. Now what happens if you miss one of these prayers. There is a myth that you can make it up or combine prayers and it is just an innovation, you cannot make up missed prayers. If you miss the Noon Prayer in any day, you just cannot bring  yesterday back, you missed it and it is too bad. So you just ask God for forgiveness; repent and promise god that you will never, to the best of your ability, miss anymore prayers, and you just go on doing the prayers. The idea of the Contact Prayers is to contact our creator within a certain period of every day, and when you miss that; it is gone, you cannot bring it back, and you cannot make it up, but you can ask forgives and repent.
  • And now the best way to describe the Contact Prayer to you, is to demonstrate exactly how it is done. So now I will demonstrate for you the Dawn Contact Prayer.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:16:06).

  • Do you remember the first thing you have to do in order to observe the Contact Prayers? That’s right, the intention, you declare your intention, in Arabic “niyya”. So since this is the dawn prayer, I will make the intention for the Dawn Contact Prayer, in English; then in Arabic. Then I will proceed with the prayer and you just watch everything I am doing and this is – this should be the correct way for observing the Contact Prayer.
  • So here i am facing the direction of mecca, and I am going to make my intention.
  • I intend to do the Dawn Contact Prayer; nawaytu Salat al-fajr.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:16:40).

  • (While raising hands to the side of the head) – Allahu akbar
  • (verse 1) – bism Allah Arrahman Arraheem,

  • (verse 6) – ehdina al-serata al-mustaqeem,
  • (verse 7) – serata al-lazeena an’amta ‘alayhim, ghoyri al-maghdoobi ‘alayhim, wa laddalleen.
  • (While bending down to bow) – Allahu akbar
  • (During bowing) – subhaana rabbiya al-‘azeem, x3
  • (While returning upright from bowing) – sami’a allahu leman hamidah
  • (While going down to prostrate) – Allahu akbar
  • (During prostration) – subhaana rabbiya al-‘alaa, x3
  • (While sitting upright from prostration) – Allahu akbar

  • (During sitting position while looking right) – al-salaamu ‘alaykum
  • (During sitting position while looking left) – al-salaamu ‘alaykum
  • And this completes the Dawn Prayer, this is the original contact Salat prayer, as observed by the prophet Muhammad, and it came to us all the way from Abraham exactly this way. And you notice in my prayer, I didn’t look around; I didn’t laugh; I was not distracted, I concentrated on communicating with my creator.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:20:53).

  • And now I will do the Noon Prayer. Now, the Noon Prayer, the Afternoon Prayer, and the Night Contact Prayer are all identical; exactly the same. So the intention for the Noon Prayer is: “nawaytu Salat al-zuhr”. For the asr; for the afternoon prayer: “Nawaytu Salat al-asr”. And for the night prayer: “Nawaytu Salat al-isha”. So what I’m going to demonstrate for you is four (4) rak’as. Which is suitable for the Noon; Afternoon; and the Night Prayer. So here we go.
  • I face the direction of Mecca, and I make my intention according to whichever Contact Prayer it is, and I start my prayer by opening with takbir.

(Source: The Contact Prayers 01:20:30).

End of Video

Peace,

I hope this has been useful for you and that you have now learned how to perform the Contact Prayers. I decided to write the whole video into a text format for those of us who prefer to read instead of watching a two hour long video.

I have cut parts of the video into short clips and added text to make it easier for the reader to see how the Wuḍū and the Contact Prayers are performed. I did this because it will make it easier and more clear to watch, instead of having to scroll through a two hour long video to find the specific part you want to watch. This way you only have to click play and the exact part you want will be played. And it is also easily repeatable, which will speed up the learning process.

None of the images, videos or audio is owned by me unless stated otherwise, such as being signed with my name like in the animation (GIF) that shows the timeline of the five Contact Prayers. All copyrighted materials are being used under fair use for educational purposes.

Please contact me if you find any errors, or if you have ideas for how this presentation can be improved.

Thank you and GOD bless.

Free Quran Chapter 47: Muhammad (Muhammad)

Learn from GOD that you should study the Quran carefully, and to never give up in making the world peaceful. It is quite repulsive how evil people are, they vilify a prophet who dedicated his life to GOD, and who had to endure years of persecution and conflict. This has been true for all of GOD’s prophets. However, in this case I want to specify prophet Muhammad. He lived peacefully until his mid-age, where he began to question the practices of the community he was living in. He used to worship idols like everybody else, this is a fact. However, it is also a fact that he destroyed all idols after GOD guided him to the truth. Yet I see that those who hate prophet Muhammad always only talk about his earlier life, before he received guidance. They never mention that he did repent and that GOD did guide him. Then, these very same people who hate prophet Muhammad, they fast forward to the years that were full of conflict and war. BUT THEY NEVER share why those conflicts or wars occurred in the first place. They don’t tell you that prophet Muhammad and the believers back then, were all persecuted, they were thrown out from their homes, their property was taken away from them and they were banished from the land.

What would you do if the government came tomorrow to your house and threw you out of the country. They also keep all of your property and even take all the money in your bank account. You could just accept this injustice and start a new life elsewhere. Sure. But you see, believers are not cowards like that. Believers always stand up for justice. Weakness is not a legitimate reason to judge those who are stronger and dare to stand up for what is right. Only hypocrites and cowards will judge someone who stands up against injustice and oppression.

We can learn a lot from prophet Muhammad’s example, he did all he could to help those in need, and with time, the result was a peaceful and united region. However, don’t get tricked here, it wasn’t a unity under ONE RELIGION, it was unity under peaceful treaties and agreements. This is the part of the story that enemies of prophet Muhammad always seem to ignore and refuse to mention. They will say “Oh, everyone was forced to convert by the sword”, nope, that is just propaganda. It was through treaties that peace was established. And yes, the Quran does mention wars during this period, and guess what else the Quran mentions? Treaties! It talks about people who betrayed their treaties and promises during this very same period! Why don’t all those hateful websites and preachers ever mention this? Why do they take things out of context and purposely ignore to mention all the details? Oh yea, because their religion is dying and they are desperately trying to vilify the Quran from taking over. Ouch! That have got to sting!

Another misconception is the idea that everyone in the Arabic peninsula during prophet Muhammad’s time – were Muslims. WRONG. There were Jews, Christians, pagans and many other ideologies. Islam at this time, didn’t force anyone to convert. But then after prophet Muhammad’s death, a lot of people wanted to be the next ruler. This then led to assassinations, betrayals and much more. And it was then that Islam began to turn more into a political tool. Which then lead to the spreading of Islam through the Sword. Which was prohibited when prophet Muhammad was alive, and is still prohibited in the Quran. We can’t deny that Islam was gone of-course since then. However, it is important that we DIFFERENTIATE between the era while prophet Muhammad was alive from the post era after prophet Muhammad died. Those are two completely different eras. The example here is comparable to Moses splitting the sea and leading the Hebrews through the ocean, surrounded by walls of water. Then once Moses left for days to receive the tablets and came back, the Hebrews had built a golden statue of a cow which they worshiped in Moses’ absence. The same happened with Islam after prophet Muhammad’s death. The old Arab tribal ways took over. But can you blame them? Democracy was something new, and it was still the first and second generation that had to establish this new thing called democracy. But, it was hard, because the first and second generations were born and raised during the Tribal era. So they could only use what they already knew. For example, the third “president” would favor his own family, so he chose his own family and relatives to fill various positions in the government. That’s not democracy! And it lead other families to worry that one family would have all the power, when government is supposed to serve all people, not ONE FAMILY. So that basically ended democracy and everything went back to square one.

So again, don’t blame prophet Muhammad for what happened after his death.

Quran Chapter 47: Muhammad (Muhammad)

[47:0] In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

[47:1] Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of God, He nullifies their works.

[47:2] Those who believe and work righteousness, and believe in what was sent down to Muhammad – which is the truth from their Lord – He remits their sins, and blesses them with contentment.

[47:3] This is because those who disbelieve are following falsehood, while those who believe are following the truth from their Lord. God thus cites for the people their examples.

[47:4] If you encounter (in war) those who disbelieve, you may strike the necks. If you take them as captives you may set them free or ransom them, until the war ends. Had God willed, He could have granted you victory, without war. But He thus tests you by one another. As for those who get killed in the cause of God, He will never put their sacrifice to waste.

[47:5] He will guide them, and bless them with contentment.

[47:6] He will admit them into Paradise, that He described to them.

[47:7] O you who believe, if you support God, He will support you, and strengthen your foothold.

[47:8] Those who disbelieve incur misery; He causes their works to be utterly in vain.

[47:9] That is because they hated what God revealed and consequently, He nullifies their works.

[47:10] Did they not roam the earth and see the consequences for those before them? God destroyed their works; all disbelievers will suffer the same fate.

[47:11] This is because God is the Lord of those who believe, while the disbelievers have no lord.

[47:12] God admits those who believe and lead a righteous life into gardens with flowing streams. As for those who disbelieve, they live and eat like the animals eat, then end up in the hellfire.

[47:13] Many a community was much stronger than the community that evicted you from your town; when we annihilated them, no one could help them.

[47:14] Are those enlightened by their Lord the same as those whose evil works are adorned in their eyes, and they follow their own opinions?

[47:15] The allegory of Paradise that is promised for the righteous is this: it has rivers of unpolluted water, and rivers of fresh milk, and rivers of wine – delicious for the drinkers – and rivers of strained honey. They have all kinds of fruits therein, and forgiveness from their Lord. (Are they better) or those who abide forever in the hellfire, and drink hellish water that tears up their intestines?

[47:16] Some of them listen to you, then as soon as they leave they ask those who were enlightened, “What did he just say?” God thus seals their hearts and, consequently, they follow only their opinions.

[47:17] As for those who are guided, He augments their guidance, and grants them their righteousness.

End of the World*

[47:18] Are they waiting until the Hour comes to them suddenly? All the signs thereof have already come.* Once the Hour comes to them, how will they benefit from their message?

*47:18 The Quran, being the Final Testament, provides all the signs needed to pinpoint the end of the world; AD 2280. See Appendix 25 for the details.

Laa Elaaha Ellaa Allah: First Commandment

[47:19] You shall know that: “There is no other god beside God,”* and ask forgiveness of your sins and the sins of all believing men and women. God is fully aware of your decisions and your ultimate destiny.

*47:19 Significantly, the “First Pillar” of religion is stated in the sura entitled Muhammad, and is utterly devoted to God alone. Muhammad’s name was added by his idolizers, against his will.

Exposing the Hypocrites

[47:20] Those who believed said: “When will a new sura be revealed?” But when a straightforward sura was revealed, wherein fighting was mentioned, you would see those who harbored doubts in their hearts looking at you, as if death had already come to them. They were thus exposed.

Proof of Faith During Muhammad’s Era

[47:21] Obedience and righteous utterances are expected of them. If only they showed confidence in God, when mobilization was called for, it would have been better for them.

[47:22] Is it also your intention that as soon as you leave you will commit evil and mistreat your relatives?

[47:23] It is those who incurred a curse from God, whereby He rendered them deaf and blind.

Study the Quran

[47:24] Why do they not study the Quran carefully? Do they have locks on their minds?

[47:25] Surely, those who slide back, after the guidance has been manifested to them, the devil has enticed them and led them on.

[47:26] This is because they said to those who hated what God has sent down, “We will obey you in certain matters.” God fully knows their secret conspiracies.

[47:27] How will it be for them when the angels put them to death? They will beat them on their faces and their rear ends.

[47:28] This is because they followed what angered God and hated the things that please Him. Consequently, He has nullified their works.

[47:29] Did those who harbor doubts in their hearts think that God will not bring out their evil thoughts?

[47:30] If we will, we can expose them for you, so that you can recognize them just by looking at them. However, you can recognize them by the way they talk. God is fully aware of all your works.

[47:31] We will certainly put you to the test, in order to distinguish those among you who strive, and steadfastly persevere. We must expose your true qualities.

[47:32] Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of God, and oppose the messenger after the guidance has been manifested for them, will never hurt God in the least. Instead, He nullifies their works.

[47:33] O you who believe, you shall obey God, and obey the messenger. Otherwise, all your works will be in vain.

The Great Disaster

[47:34] Those who disbelieve and repel from the path of God, then die as disbelievers, God will never forgive them.

[47:35] Therefore, you shall not waver and surrender in pursuit of peace, for you are guaranteed victory, and God is with you. He will never waste your efforts.

[47:36] This worldly life is no more than play and vanity. But if you believe and lead a righteous life, He will reward you, without asking you for any money.

[47:37] If He asked you for money, to the extent of creating a hardship for you, you might have become stingy, and your hidden evil might be exposed.

Warning to the Arabs*

[47:38] You are invited to spend in the cause of God, but some of you turn stingy. The stingy are stingy towards their own souls. God is Rich, while you are poor. If you turn away, He will substitute other people in your place, and they will not be like you.

*47:38 The Quran was given to the Arabs, in their language, for 1400 years, but they clearly rejected it and refused to believe that it is complete; they fabricated Hadith and Sunna.

Free Quran Chapter 54: The Moon (Al-Qamar)

Learn from GOD that the Quran is easy to learn, only liars will tell you otherwise. The Quran repeats over and over that you don’t have to depend on religious scholars to understand the Quran. On the contrary, you only need to trust GOD to understand it. The Quran does command that there should be some people in the community who are dedicated to studying the Quran so they can share the knowledge with the others who don’t have time for it themselves. So a community where everyone just studies the Quran and nobody works is completely wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m talking about studying the Quran everyday for hours for the rest of your life. To become and expert, not a religious scholar. Every person is still commanded to study the Quran every night for as much as they can. Anything extra is up to you. This tells us that we should be reading the Quran for a purpose, not just for the sake of reading it. Don’t treat it as casual reading. GOD made the religion easy, so all you have to do is study a couple of pages from the Quran during the night.

Quran Chapter 54: The Moon (Al-Qamar)

[54:0] In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

[54:1] The Hour has come closer, and the moon has split.*

*54:1 This important sign of the approaching end of the world came to pass in 1969 when humans landed on the moon and brought pieces of the moon to earth. At the same time, God’s mathematical Miracle of the Quran was being gradually unveiled. Traditional Muslims opposed it, since it exposed the fallacy of their practices (Appendix 25).

[54:2] Then they saw a miracle; but they turned away and said, “Old magic.”

[54:3] They disbelieved, followed their opinions, and adhered to their old traditions.

[54:4] Sufficient warnings have been delivered to alert them.

[54:5] Great wisdom; but all the warnings have been in vain.

[54:6] Ignore them; the day will come when the caller will announce a terrible disaster.

[54:7] With their eyes humiliated, they come out of the graves like scattered locusts.

[54:8] As they respond to the caller, the disbelievers will say, “This is a difficult day.”

[54:9] The people of Noah disbelieved before them. They disbelieved our servant and said, “Crazy!” He was persecuted.

[54:10] He implored his Lord, “I am oppressed; grant me victory.”

[54:11] We then opened the gates of the sky, pouring water.

[54:12] And we caused springs to gush out of the earth. The waters met to effect a predetermined decision.

The Ark

[54:13] We carried him on a watercraft made of logs and ropes.

[54:14] It ran under our watchful eyes; a reward for one who was rejected.

[54:15] We have set it up as a lesson. Does any of you wish to learn?

[54:16] How terrible was My retribution after the warnings!

[54:17] We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?

[54:18] `Ãd disbelieved. Consequently, how terrible was My retribution after the warnings.

[54:19] We sent upon them violent winds, on a day of continuous misery.

[54:20] It tossed the people around as if they were decayed palm tree trunks.

[54:21] How terrible was My retribution after the warnings!

[54:22] We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?

[54:23] Thamoud rejected the warnings.

[54:24] They said, “Shall we follow one of us; a human being? We will then go astray, then end up in Hell.

[54:25] “Did the message come down to him, instead of us? He is a flagrant liar.”

[54:26] They will find out tomorrow who the flagrant liar is.

[54:27] We are sending the camel as a test for them. Watch them and be patient.

[54:28] Inform them that the water shall be divided among them; (the camel) shall be allowed to drink on her designated day.

[54:29] But they persuaded their friend to kill (the camel), and he obliged.

[54:30] Consequently, how terrible was My retribution! They have been warned.

[54:31] We sent upon them one blow, whereupon they became like harvested hay.

[54:32] We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?

[54:33] The people of Lot rejected the warnings.

[54:34] We showered them with rocks. Only Lot’s family was saved at dawn.

[54:35] We blessed him and his family; we thus reward the appreciative.

[54:36] He warned them about our requital, but they ridiculed the warnings.

[54:37] They negotiated with him about his guests; we blinded them. Suffer My retribution; you have been warned.

[54:38] Early the next morning, a devastating retribution struck them.

[54:39] Suffer My retribution; you have been warned.

[54:40] We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?

[54:41] Pharaoh’s people were warned.

[54:42] They rejected all our signs. Consequently, we requited them as an Almighty, Omnipotent should.

[54:43] Are your disbelievers better than those disbelievers? Have you been absolved by the scripture?

[54:44] Perhaps they think, “We will be the winners.”

[54:45] All of them will be defeated; they will turn around and flee.

[54:46] The Hour is awaiting them, and the Hour is far worse and more painful.

[54:47] Certainly, the guilty are astray, and will end up in Hell.

[54:48] They will be dragged into the hellfire, forcibly. Suffer the agony of retribution.

[54:49] Everything we created is precisely measured.

[54:50] Our commands are done within the blink of an eye.

[54:51] We annihilated your counterparts. Does any of you wish to learn?

[54:52] Everything they did is recorded in the scriptures.

[54:53] Everything, small or large, is written down.

[54:54] Surely, the righteous have deserved gardens and rivers.

Free Quran Chapter 55: Most Gracious (Al-Rahmaan)

Learn from GOD that anyone can read the Quran and learn it, religious scholars don’t own it. I can’t stress enough how important it is that everyone, all people in the whole world, can read the Quran. GOD sent it down for us all, to find the truth and be guided so we can redeem our souls. Nobody has the right to tell you that you are not allowed to read it. Religious scholars, the imams, don’t own it. In this chapter GOD tells you to have confidence in your own ability to seek the truth and to stop depending on others in your spiritual journey.

Free Quran Chapter 72: Jinns (Al-Jinn)

Learn from GOD that we are not alone in this universe, there are creatures called Jinn, they too are being tested. Jinn are everywhere, they have communities, laws and wars. But not in our dimension. They exist in the spirit realm and each human body is accompanied by one. They can’t take direct control of your bodies, so their only way to steer the human body is through whisperers. A person with a weak control over their human body will be easily influenced by their Jinn companion. So it is common for Jinns to use their influence over their weak human companions to team up against other humans and try to break them down too, to allow their Jinn to slowly dominate over their human companion. For example, lets say you have 5 friends who like to party late, drink alcohol and even have sex with strangers every weekend. Then they try to convince you to follow along. They might lie and say that nothing is going to happen. They might even purposely get you drunk or even drug you. In their mind, they are not doing something wrong, at least that’s what their Jinn companions have convinced them of. The Jinns might even team up against your Jinn and force it to give out information about you. This information can then be used by the other Jinns to inspire your friends how to influence you. They might tell you they’re not going to drink. But once at the party they will tell you it’s okay to drink a little, or to at least try some. They will keep at it, and try all kinds of manipulations just to break you down. The goal of the Jinn is promote Satans point of view, that there can be other gods beside GOD. And since GOD has certain commandments and laws, Satan will have to have different commandments and laws, usually opposite of GOD’s commandments and laws. For example, GOD tells us to take care of the poor, but then the Jinn will argue with you; “nah, you don’t have to give to the poor, they are poor because they deserve it”, or “why should you give to the poor when you are poor yourself?”. The Jinn is there to promote Satan’s point of view. Unless you dominate over your Jinn companion and show who is boss. You can tame your Jinn companion, however, it is like taming a lion, it is still a wild creature with its own will. It will try to sneakily undermine your authority over time, so never let down your guard. This is why you need to read the Quran, it is not just for you, it also for the Jinn to hear it. It will help you tame your Jinn companion, which will allow for a more peaceful mind and productive life.

Quran Chapter 72: Jinns (Al-Jinn)

[72:0] In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

[72:1] Say, “I was inspired that a group of jinns listened, then said, `We have heard a wonderful Quran.*

[72:2] ” `It guides to righteousness, and we have believed in it; we will never set up any idols besides our Lord.

[72:3] ” `The Most High is our only Lord. He never had a mate, nor a son.

[72:4] ” `It is the foolish among us who used to utter such nonsense about God.

[72:5] ” `We thought that neither the humans, nor the jinns, could possibly utter lies about God.

[72:6] ” `Human beings used to seek power through jinn beings, but they only afflicted them with a lot of adversity.

[72:7] ” `They thought, just like you thought, that God would not send another (messenger).

[72:8] ” `We touched the heaven and found it filled with formidable guards and projectiles.

[72:9] ” `We used to sit there in order to spy. Anyone who listens is pursued by a powerful projectile.

[72:10] ” `We have no idea if something bad is intended for the inhabitants of Earth, or if their Lord wills to redeem them.

[72:11] ” `Some of us are righteous, and some are less than righteous; we follow various paths.

[72:12] ” `We knew full well that we can never run away from God on Earth; we can never run away and escape.

[72:13] ” `When we heard the guidance, we believed therein. Anyone who believes in his Lord will never fear any injustice, nor any affliction.

[72:14] ” `Among us are the submitters, and among us are the compromisers.’ ” As for those who submitted, they are on the right path.

[72:15] As for the compromisers, they will be fuel for Gehenna.

[72:16] If they remain on the right path, we will bless them with abundant water.

[72:17] We will surely test them all. As for him who disregards the message of his Lord, He will direct him to ever increasing retribution.

[72:18] The places of worship belong to God; do not call on anyone else beside God.

God’s Messenger of the Covenant*

[72:19] When God’s servant advocated Him alone, almost all of them banded together to oppose him.

[72:20] Say, “I worship only my Lord; I never set up any idols besides Him.”

[72:21] Say, “I possess no power to harm you, nor to guide you.”

[72:22] Say, “No one can protect me from God, nor can I find any other refuge besides Him.

[72:23] “I deliver God’s proclamations and messages.” Those who disobey God and His messenger incur the fire of Hell, wherein they abide forever.

[72:24] Once they see what is awaiting them, they will find out who is really weaker in power, and fewer in number.

[72:25] Say, “I do not know if what is promised to you will happen soon, or if my Lord will delay it for awhile.”

[72:26] He is the Knower of the future; He does not reveal the future to anyone.

[72:27] Only to a messenger that He chooses, does He reveal from the past and the future, specific news.*

[72:28] This is to ascertain that they have delivered their Lord’s messages. He is fully aware of what they have. He has counted the numbers of all things.

*72:1-28 The messenger here is named, mathematically, as “Rashad Khalifa,” to whom God revealed the end of the world (Appendix 25). The number of verses from 1:1 to 72:27, where the messenger is mentioned, is 5472, 19x72x4. The word “Rashada” occurs 4 times in Sura 72. The value of “Rashada” is 504, and 504+28 (verses of Sura 72) is 532, 19×28. The value of “Rashad Khalifa” (1230)+72+28=1330 =19×70. The digits of Sura 72 and its number of verses (28) add up to 7+2+2+8=19. Also, the crucial expression, “only to a messenger that He chooses” has a value of 361, 19×19.
