Free Quran Chapter 107: Charity (Al-Maa`oon)

Learn from GOD that you must take care of the orphans and you must give charity and stay focused during prayer. GOD reserves paradise only to those who have given from their most beloved possessions to those in need. If you pick two apples; one is fresh and the other is rotten. If you give away the rotten apple and keep the fresh apple for yourself. Then you’re not really giving away from what you value, and thus doesn’t count as being charitable. If you need half the fresh apple then take only half and give the other half to someone else, that’s charity. However, giving away too much is also bad. You have to balance your charity. Don’t be stingy and don’t be extravagant, giving only to show off. It is actually better to give to charity anonymously. If you give too little, then the poor will remain hungry. If you give too much, then you will become poor yourself and then everyone will be poor. This means that charity should be a focused, conscious and planned effort. The same effort should be used while praying and to take care of orphans. GOD condemns apathy.
