Re-designing, one hard-drive crash and a golden new laptop

well well well, we meet again, mister blog.

I have been busy, enough said.

All the 3D work I did for my world map and world building is gone due to hard-drive failure. That’s like one full month of work, sometimes I spent as much as 12 hours a day working. But whatever, I will rebuild it later in the future when I have a more suitable computer for 3D work (expensive stuff, please donate one million dollars and make my day pretty please). Anyhow, I remade the lost work as 2D instead, which really is not that great, takes too much memory and disk space. My 3D file was like 50 mb, it contained all the mountains, rivers, city locations, islands etc, the map had over thousands of villages, hundreds of cities and 70 capitols, over a thousand islands and so much more, all packed into 50 mb with real world measurement…yes, it was possible to work down to the millimeter for details. Compared to 2D graphics, using real world measurements, I could only go down to 20 km before my memory ran out. But whatever, I’m skipping the details for now and working on a real world scale of 100 km maximum. Not how I want to do things, but it gets the job done and that’s good enough.

On a different note, I bought a new laptop, fan-less, not a single sound, even the keys when pressed down won’t make noise! I always wanted a dedicated laptop to do all my writing on, both for convenience and security reasons. It has been one of those things that make you really satisfied with a decision you made. I literally praise my new laptop every time I bring it out hah! Oh, and it has a golden skin, it makes me feel like a king while working!

And lastly, I’m redesigning my website and might redesign this blog as well to better match the new design of the website. I  also added two new sections/pages to the blog, a photostream and an artstream. They are automatically updated every time I upload something to Flickr, so make sure to check them out! Art for sale will not be seen here though, for those, you have to visit the online shops that have my art available, here is a link to a list of shops:

Yeah, that’s about it for now. I’m really busy working on one of my hundreds of novels for now, it’s really hard to dedicate oneself to one project day after day…I need to multitask, it gives new life and energy to the other projects whenever I return to them. An allegory would be speed-blindness while driving for too long, you lose track of the speed you’re going in, in the end you speed more and more to “feel” that you are not slowing down, which means you go too fast and miss everything around you and might crash, killing yourself or someone else. Your writing could kill the novel that you actually wanted to write and the innocent audience has to suffer for it! That’s a nono! So put on some music, lay back and think about other things!
